大学生のアキラは、大好きな場所であるこの神社を、幼馴染のナツキと彼女の兄のヒロとともに訪れていた。

College student Akira was visiting this beloved shrine with his childhood friend Natsuki and her brother Hiro.

アキラは内気だが、ナツキに密かに想いを寄せていた。

数日後、アキラはヒロを神社に呼び出した。

A few days later, Akira called Hiro to the shrine.

この場所なら秘密を守れると考えたからだ。

He thought this place could keep the secret safe.

赤い鳥居の下で、アキラは意を決してヒロに話しかけた。

Under the red torii, Akira mustered the courage to speak to Hiro.

「ヒロさん、この手紙について知っていることはありませんか？」

"Hiro, do you know anything about this letter?"

ヒロは一瞬黙り込んだが、深呼吸してから語り始めた。

Hiro paused for a moment but then took a deep breath and began to speak.

「この手紙は、母方の祖父が私たちに残したものだ」と。

"This letter was left to us by our maternal grandfather," he said.

「家族の歴史には、私たちも知らなかった秘密があるんだ」と言うのだった。

"There are secrets in our family's history that even we didn't know."

その時、木陰で静かに聞いていたナツキが現れ、ヒロに微笑んだ。

At that moment, Natsuki, who had been quietly listening in the shade, appeared and smiled at Hiro.

「ありがとう」と彼女は囁き、自分のルーツについての新しい理解を得たことに感謝した。

"Thank you," she whispered, appreciating the newfound understanding of her roots.

Then, Akira realized it was time to reveal his own feelings to Natsuki.
