У жовтні, коли листя кружляло на вітрі як золоті спогади літа, група школярів зібралася біля старовинних руїн Херсонеса в Криму.

In October, when the leaves swirled in the wind like golden memories of summer, a group of schoolchildren gathered near the ancient ruins of Khersones in Krym.

Перед ними розгорнувся величний краєвид: стародавні колони та частково зруйновані споруди.

Сонце ховалося за густими, сірими хмарами, готуючи свої останні, слабкі промені.

The sun was hiding behind thick, gray clouds, preparing its last, faint rays.

Тарас, хлопчик з очима, які палали цікавістю, стояв осторонь.

Taras, a boy with eyes burning with curiosity, stood aside.

Він чув легенди про таємничий підземний хід, що нібито вів з руїн Херсонеса.

He had heard legends about a mysterious underground passage supposedly leading from the Khersones ruins.

Він завжди мріяв стати дослідником.

He always dreamed of becoming an explorer.

Поряд стояла Оксана, якій не подобалися ризикові плани Тараса, але в глибині душі її теж тягло до пригод.

"Оксано, йди зі мною," тихо попросив Тарас, коли вчителька відволіклася на пояснення історії руїн.

Небо темніє, з’являються перші краплі дощу.

The sky darkened, and the first drops of rain appeared.

Тарас і Оксана знаходять тріщину між каменями, яка веде в глибину старої споруди.

Taras and Oksana found a crack between the stones leading into the depths of the old structure.

Вони обережно вступають до напівтемного проходу.

They cautiously stepped into the dim passageway.

Вітер піднімається, хмари готові розлити свій вміст на землю.

The wind picked up, the clouds ready to pour their contents onto the earth.

Але в серці проходу, час ніби зупинився.

Після цієї пригоди Тарас усвідомлює, наскільки важливо бути обережним.
