In the reddish light of an autumn day, when leaves covered Sofiyska Square with a multicolored carpet, a modest but determined student, Oksana, stood with Mykhailo and Nadiya, her mother.
They came here with a special purpose — to visit the historical church, which, with its golden domes, shone under the cloudy sky.
Autumn in Kyiv was magical.
All around, numerous orange and red leaves rustled, and a special scent filled the air.
Oksana felt a growing anxiety in her soul due to a sense of detachment from her native culture.
She longed to feel a connection with her ancestors again, but she didn't know how to express her feelings to her mother or Mykhailo.
Mykhailo, always cheerful and lively, supported Oksana.
"Let's go and have a look inside," he said encouragingly.
Oksana nodded timidly.
They entered the church, where the ancient walls preserved stories of past centuries.
Nadiya talked about every detail she remembered from her childhood.
Her voice sounded warm and filled their hearts with love for their native land.
Standing before the icons, Oksana felt as if someone had touched her soul.
She suddenly realized that all these centuries of cultural wealth embodied in this church were also her heritage.
And she wanted to share this revelation.
"Mom, Mykhailo," she said, feeling a wave of courage, "I've always felt like a stranger in my own culture.
But now I understand that this history is part of me.
And it's very important for me to know and feel this."
Nadiya gently embraced her daughter.
"We are always here to support you in your search, Oksanochko," she said.
Mykhailo nodded, adding, "You're not alone.
You have us, and we'll support you."
They left the church, feeling renewed strength.
Oksana glowed from within.
They stood on Sofiyska Square, and the cold wind gently whispered among the trees.
Autumn was the best time to rediscover oneself and one's roots.
And Oksana felt that now she had her own independence and strength to embark on this journey with pride and love.
