It was a cold winter day in İstanbul.

Boğaz'ın kenarındaki şirin kafede dumanı tüten bir fincan çay, Selin ve Emir'i bekliyordu.

In the cozy café by the Boğaz, a steaming cup of tea was waiting for Selin and Emir.

Emir, yıllardır ayrı düştüğü ablası Selin ile buluşacaktı.

Emir was going to meet his sister Selin, from whom he had been estranged for years.

Aralarındaki mesafeye rağmen, içindeki umut ışığı hiç sönmemişti.

Despite the distance between them, the light of hope within him had never faded.

Selin ise kafeye girerken yüreğinde geçmişin yükünü taşıyordu.

Outside, the snow was slowly playing seesaw over the Boğaz.

Pencereden bakınca denizde süzülen vapurlar görülüyordu.

Looking out the window, one could see the ferries gliding on the water.

Emir, kalbinin atan sesini duymasın diye elindeki çaydan derin bir yudum aldı.

Emir, to avoid hearing the sound of his own heartbeat, took a deep sip of the tea he held.

Selin ise karşısındaki sandalyeye otururken içten bir tebessümle Emir'e baktı.

Selin, on the other hand, sat on the chair across from him and looked at Emir with a sincere smile.

Sıcacık bir koku burunlarına dolarken, Selin derin bir nefes aldı.

As a warm aroma filled their noses, Selin took a deep breath.

Konuşmaya başlamak için doğru anı bekler gibiydi.

She seemed to be waiting for the right moment to start speaking.

"Emir," dedi Selin, sesinde hem sertlik hem de kırılganlık vardı.

"Emir," said Selin, her voice carrying both firmness and fragility.

"Bu evi satmak istediğini duydum. Herkesin gözü bu evde."

"I heard you want to sell the house. Everyone has their eyes on it."

Emir, gözlerini pencereden ayırdı ve Selin'e döndü.

Emir turned his gaze away from the window and looked at Selin.

Yılların biriktiği sessizlik, bulunduğu ortamın sıcaklığında eriyip gitti.

The silence that had accumulated over the years melted away in the warmth of the environment.

"Selin, dinle," dedi sakin bir ses tonuyla, "Borçlarım çok. İstediğim yeni bir başlangıç.

"Selin, listen," he said in a calm tone, "I have a lot of debts. I want a new beginning.

Ama... başka çarem de yok gibi. Seni de anlaman için buraya çağırdım.

But... it’s like I have no other choice. I called you here so you could understand.

Ev bizim geçmişimiz ama geleceğim de bu paraya bağlı."

The house is our past, but my future also depends on this money."

Selin derin bir nefes aldı.

Selin took a deep breath.

Gözleri, Boğaz'ın yumuşak akıntısında, yıllarca sakladığı duyguların anlamını arıyormuş gibi dolandı.

Her eyes wandered through the soft currents of the Boğaz, as if searching for the meaning of feelings she had hidden over the years.

Hareket etmeden önce birkaç saniye sessiz kaldı, ardından:

She remained silent for a few seconds before moving, and then:

"Hatıralarımız... O salondaki kahkahalar, mutfaktaki yemek kokuları.

"Our memories... The laughter in the living room, the smell of food from the kitchen.

Başardıklarımız ve başarısızlıklarımız. Hepsi bu evde."

Kapalı alanın sıcaklığı, Emir ve Selin arasındaki buzları yavaşça eritti.

The warmth of the enclosed space slowly melted the ice between Emir and Selin.

Emir derin bir iç çekti. Doğru olanı söylemenin zamanı gelmişti.

Emir sighed deeply. The time had come to tell the truth.

"Gerçek şu ki..." dedi ve başını eğdi, "Maddi zorluklar yüzünden buradayım.

"The truth is..." he said and lowered his head, "I am here because of financial difficulties.

Başka çıkışım yok gibi."

It feels like I have no other way out."

Selin, kardeşinin bu itirafı karşısında donup kaldı.

Selin froze at her brother's confession.

Bir süre sonra, içindeki kor bir anda sönmüş gibi fısıldadı: "Emir, ben de seni anlamıyorum sanma.

After a while, as if the ember within her extinguished suddenly, she whispered: "Emir, don't think I don't understand you.

Ama yolu daha da zorlaştırmadan, devam edelim."

But without making the path harder, let's move forward."

Sessizlik. Sonra Selin devam etti: "Evi satışa çıkarmayalım.

Silence. Then Selin continued: "Let’s not put the house up for sale.

Kiralayalım. Böylece sen de biraz rahatlama bulursun.

Let’s rent it out. That way, you can find some relief too.

Ev de bizimle kalır."

The house will stay with us."

Emir, bakışlarını Selin'e kaldırdı.

Emir lifted his gaze to Selin.

O an, uzun zaman sonra ilk kez birbirlerinin gözünde aynı duyguları hissettiler.

At that moment, for the first time in a long time, they felt the same emotions reflected in each other's eyes.

Anlaşılmış, affedilmiş ve yeniden bağlanmış hissettiler.

They felt understood, forgiven, and reconnected.

Hava kararmaya başladığında, çaydan kalan ılık tat hâlâ dillerindeydi.

As the day began to darken, the warm taste of the tea still lingered on their tongues.

Selin ve Emir, çocukluk anılarının ağır yükünü sevgiyle hafifletmiş; geçmişle barışarak, geleceğe dair küçük ama sağlam bir adım atmışlardı.

Selin and Emir had lightened the heavy burden of childhood memories with love; making peace with the past and taking a small but firm step toward the future.

Boğaz'ın üzerindeki vapurlar gibi, kalpleri de ağır ağır ama kararlı bir seyirde yeni başlangıçlarına doğru yol alıyordu.

Like the ferries over the Boğaz, their hearts were also setting course for new beginnings with a slow but determined pace.
