In Chiang Mai, during the Songkran Festival, the streets were filled with the vibrant colors of joy.

น้ำสาดกันอย่างร่มรื่นทั้งเด็กและผู้ใหญ่

Water was splashed around delightfully by both children and adults.

หน้าร้านอาหารต่างๆ มีขนมและน้ำดื่มเย็นๆ มากมาย

In front of various restaurants, there were plenty of snacks and cold drinks.

เสียงดนตรีพื้นเมืองดังระงม รับกับการตกแต่งของตุ๊กตุ๊กที่ขับผ่านไปมา

Traditional music played loudly, complementing the decorations on the tuk-tuks that drove by.

Somsak walked alongside Saipin.

เขารู้สึกตื่นเต้นที่จะได้เป็นไกด์วันวันนี้ โดยเฉพาะเมื่ออานง น้องสาวของสายพิณที่มาจากกรุงเทพฯ เข้าร่วมสนุกด้วย

He felt excited to be the guide for the day, especially with Anong, Saipin’s younger sister from Bangkok, joining in on the fun.

อานงดูสนใจแต่มีความเขินอายเล็กน้อย

Anong appeared interested but slightly shy.

“สงกรานต์นี่สนุกจัง!” สายพิณพูดอย่างสดใสพลางถือปืนฉีดน้ำอยู่ในมือ

"Songkran is so much fun!" Saipin said brightly while holding a water gun.

สมศักดิ์ยิ้ม แต่ในใจรู้สึกกดดัน

Somsak smiled, but inwardly he felt pressured.

เขาต้องการจะอธิบายเรื่องราวของสงกรานต์ให้อานงฟัง แต่ก็กลัวว่าจะไม่มีความสนุกเหมือนสายพิณ

He wanted to explain the story of Songkran to Anong but feared it wouldn’t be as entertaining as Saipin.

ทันใดนั้นเอง น้ำมันพุ่งใส่พวกเขาทั้งสาม

Suddenly, water splashed over all three of them.

สมศักดิ์หัวเราะเสียงดัง กล้าเปิดใจให้เป็นการเล่นที่ไม่เคยได้ลองมาก่อน

Somsak laughed loudly, daring to embrace this game he had never tried before.

“มาสนุกกันเถอะ!” เขาพูดกล่าวกับอานง

"Let's have fun!" he said to Anong.

เทศกาลเต็มไปด้วยความสนุกสนาน

The festival was full of enjoyment.

เพลงบรรเลงเบา ๆ พระอาทิตย์ส่องแสงสดใส

Light music played, and the sun shone brightly.

สมศักดิ์เริ่มปล่อยภายในออกมา

Somsak began to let his true self out.

เขาเข้าร่วมในสงครามน้ำด้วยความรังสรรค์และความกล้า

He joined the water fight with creativity and courage.

ตรงกลางเสียงหัวเราะและละอองน้ำที่กระจายไปทั่ว เขาเล่าให้อานงฟังถึงประวัติศาสตร์ของสงกรานต์

Amidst the laughter and the water spraying everywhere, he recounted to Anong the history of Songkran.

“เทศกาลนี้เป็นช่วงเวลาที่เราล้างบาป ล้างความไม่ดีในปีก่อน เพื่อเริ่มต้นสิ่งใหม่ที่ดีในปีนี้” สมศักดิ์กล่าว ด้วยน้ำที่ไหลท่วมตัวพวกเขา แต่ความสนุกก็เต็มเปี่ยม

"This festival is a time when we wash away past sins and negativity to start anew with positive things this year," Somsak explained, as water drenched them, but fun abounded.

อานงฟังเรื่องราวอย่างสนใจ

Anong listened to the story with interest.

เขาชอบที่สมศักดิ์สามารถเล่าเรื่องด้วยความรักในวัฒนธรรม

He liked how Somsak could tell the story with a love for culture.

แม้กลัวในตอนแรก แต่การเปิดใจของสมศักดิ์ทำให้อานงรู้สึกสบายใจมากขึ้น

Although initially apprehensive, Somsak’s openness made Anong feel more at ease.

เมื่อพระอาทิตย์ตกดิน สายพิณแยกจากไปดูกับเพื่อน

As the sun set, Saipin parted to hang out with her friends.

สมศักดิ์และอานงนั่งลงริมแม่น้ำ อากาศเย็นสบาย พวกเขาสนทนาถึงวันที่ผ่านไป

Somsak and Anong sat by the riverbank, enjoying the cool breeze, discussing the day that had passed.

“ขอบคุณนะสมศักดิ์ ที่ทำให้วันนี้สนุกมาก” อานงกล่าวด้วยความจริงใจ

"Thank you, Somsak, for making today so enjoyable," Anong said sincerely.

สมศักดิ์ยิ้ม รู้สึกภาคภูมิใจ

Somsak smiled, feeling proud.

“เราควรทำอย่างนี้บ่อยๆ เก็บความสนุกและความทรงจำดีไว้”

"We should do this often, keeping the fun and good memories alive."

ความเปลี่ยนแปลงเริ่มต้นจากภายใน

Change begins from within.

สมศักดิ์ได้เรียนรู้ที่จะเปิดใจ

Somsak learned to open his heart.

ไม่จำเป็นต้องอยู่ในกรอบเก่า

It wasn't necessary to stay within old boundaries.

ความสนุกบางครั้งก็พบได้ในสิ่งที่ไม่คาดคิด และความสัมพันธ์กับผู้อื่นก็ต้องเริ่มต้นจากการเปิดใจตัวเองเช่นกัน

Sometimes fun is found in the unexpected, and relationships with others must begin with opening up oneself.
