In the Uppsala domkyrka, where the candles always burn and its towers proudly stretch toward the sky, Malin, Erik, and Sofia walked.
Det var höst.
It was autumn.
The leaves danced in the wind outside, in beautiful shades of yellow and red.
But inside, in the cathedral's comforting embrace, it was calm.
Malin and Erik had a task that day.
It was soon All Saints' Day, a time for memories and longing.
Their grandmother had passed away a year ago, and Malin wanted to honor her.
They were searching for a candle, a candle so special that it would carry their grandmother's memory.
Malin stopped at a table where the candles were lined up.
Desperat försökte hon hitta det rätta.
She desperately tried to find the right one.
Men det fanns bara enkla vita ljus.
But there were only simple white candles.
Inget kändes tillräckligt.
None felt sufficient.
Erik, alltid energisk, försökte muntra upp henne.
Erik, always energetic, tried to cheer her up.
"Grandma would have liked any candle," he pointed out with a smile.
Sofia, who was always pensive, placed a hand on Malin's shoulder.
"It's not the candle, but what it symbolizes," she said softly.
Malin blundade ett ögonblick.
Malin closed her eyes for a moment.
She remembered her grandmother's words; that simplicity held the greatest beauty.
She opened her eyes and took one of the white candles.
"Detta är perfekt," sade hon bestämt.
"This is perfect," she said firmly.
When they lit the candle inside the great cathedral, a warm feeling filled Malin.
The candle flickered, but it felt as if her grandmother was smiling at her, embraced by the candle's glow.
They sat down on one of the old benches.
I tystnad började de dela farmors älskade historier.
In silence, they began to share their grandmother's beloved stories.
Skratt blandades med stilla tårar.
Laughter mixed with quiet tears.
Minnena brann starkt som lågan.
The memories burned brightly like the flame.
Malin now realized that it wasn't the candle that was important, but the love and memories they shared.
The cathedral's walls, tall and eternal, stood as witnesses to their small ceremony.
And outside, the leaves continued their dance in the refreshing autumn wind.
