On a summer afternoon, the sun shone down on the Julian Alps and painted the valley in gold.
Skupina mladih je potovala skozi zeleno pokrajino.
A group of young people traveled through the green landscape.
Jure, Nika in Tine so se odpravili na šolski potep.
Jure, Nika, and Tine set out on a school excursion.
None of them had been near the local community, which still maintained old traditions.
Ko so prispeli, jih je pozdravil starešina po imenu Stane.
When they arrived, they were greeted by an elder named Stane.
He wore a hat adorned with mountain flowers, and his cheeks were red from the mountain wind.
"Dobrodošli," je rekel z globokim glasom.
"Welcome," he said in a deep voice.
"Danes boste spoznali naše rokodelstvo in zgodbe.
"Today you will learn about our crafts and stories."
"Nika je svetila od navdušenja.
Nika beamed with excitement.
"Komaj čakam!
"I can't wait!"
" je vzkliknila.
she exclaimed.
Tine was quieter, but he had already opened his notebook to record his impressions of the surroundings.
Jure, however, stood slightly behind, neutral but curious.
He didn’t understand why anyone would want to spend hours learning old crafts, which seemed irrelevant to him.
Hitro je postavil vprašanje: "Zakaj so te spretnosti še vedno pomembne?
He quickly posed a question: "Why are these skills still important?"
"Through these crafts, we keep our history alive," Stane replied calmly.
"Vsaka rez izrezuje zgodbo.
"Each carving tells a story."
"Dan se je začel z rezbarjenjem lesa.
The day began with wood carving.
Jure je bil sprva zgolj opazovalec.
At first, Jure was just an observer.
Njegove roke so bile neuporabe, a kmalu ga je intrigira iznajdljivost obrti.
His hands were useless, but soon the ingenuity of the craft intrigued him.
Bil je priča, kako Stane spreminja surovo leseno ploščo v obliko ptice.
He witnessed how Stane transformed a raw wooden board into the shape of a bird.
"Kaj počneš?
"What are you doing?"
" je končno vprašal Jure, njegove oči so sledile bliskovitim gibom Stanejeve roke.
Jure finally asked, his eyes following the swift movements of Stane's hand.
"Defying time," the elder replied, his eyes sparkling.
"This is the story of the bird that guards our valley."
There was something in that moment that touched Jure's heart.
Ostale ure je pomoč stal ob Staneju, njegove lastne dlani so postale umazane od curljanja lesnih ostružkov.
For the remaining hours, he stood by Stane, his own hands becoming dirty from the shavings.
With each stroke, he felt a connection that transcended the boundaries of time.
Zvečer, ko se je sonce spuščalo, so se Jure, Nika in Tine usedli okrog ognjišča skupaj s starešinami.
In the evening, as the sun was setting, Jure, Nika, and Tine sat around the campfire with the elders.
Nika asked questions about the olden days, while Tine quietly wrote in his notebook.
For the first time, Jure felt like he was part of a life he had despised just that morning.
Ob vrnitvi je bil Jure drugačen.
Upon returning, Jure was different.
Rang svetov je pridobil pomembnost.
Scores of worlds had gained importance.
Together with Nika and Tine, they gathered stories of the past and realized that respecting tradition is a bridge to self-discovery.
The next day, Jure proudly carried the wooden bird sculpture.
Not just as a souvenir, but as a symbol that old stories can soar into modern hearts.
Tradicija je postala del njega samého.
Tradition had become a part of him.
