Matej's steps echoed on the marble floor of the National Museum of Slovenia.

  • Svetloba je risala vzorce barv na stenah.

Light painted patterns of color on the walls.

  • Zrak je vonjal po zgodovini.

    The air smelled of history.

In his hands was a map of the museum, where he hoped to find something special.

  • Njegov cilj?

    His goal?

  • Navdušiti sošolce s svojim znanjem.

To impress his classmates with his knowledge.

  • Točno pred njim sta hitela Nika in Tanja.

Right in front of him, Nika and Tanja were hurrying along.

Nika laughed loudly and attracted the attention of everyone around her, while Tanja calmly observed the displayed artifacts.

  • Sonce je sijalo skozi velika okna dvorane in osvetljevalo artefakte.

The sun shone through the large windows of the hall, illuminating the artifacts.

  • Ilirske province so stale tam v središču, mogočne in zgodovinske.

The Illyrian Provinces stood there in the center, mighty and historical.

Matej knew this was his opportunity.

  • Globoko je vdihnil.

    He took a deep breath.

  • "Znanstveniki pravijo," je začel, njegov glas nekoliko tresoč, "da so Ilirske province bile del francoskega imperija.

"Scientists say," he began, his voice slightly trembling, "that the Illyrian Provinces were part of the French Empire."

The classmates, who had been idly looking around, now turned to him.

  • Nika je zavzdihnila.

    Nika sighed.

"We all know that already," she said before Matej could continue.

  • A tokrat Matej ni klecnil.

But this time, Matej didn't falter.

"But," he said with more courage, "did you know that the streets of Ljubljana at that time bore French names?

  • To, ker je Napoleon želel okrepiti povezavo s tukajšnjimi ljudmi.

Because Napoleon wanted to strengthen his connection with the local people."

  • " Ob njegovih besedah je vladala tišina.

    Silence reigned after his words.

  • Matej je čutil, kako mu srce hitreje bije.

Matej felt his heart beat faster.

  • Tanja mu je podarila prisrčen nasmeh, poln spodbude.

Tanja gave him a warm smile, full of encouragement.

Nika raised her eyebrow slightly, but was visibly interested.

  • "Nisem vedela tega," je priznala Nika.

"I didn't know that," Nika admitted.

  • "To je res kul, Matej.

    "That's really cool, Matej."

  • "Matej se je nasmehnil, prvič zares samozavestno.

Matej smiled, for the first time truly confident.

  • Preostanek dneva so skupaj raziskovali muzej ter delili zgodbe in informacije.

For the rest of the day, they explored the museum together and shared stories and information.

Matej started to notice that his classmates listened to him when he spoke.

He learned that his knowledge was as important as Nika's loud words.

At the end of the day, they headed back to the bus, seeking new adventures, but this time in a new company - friends who respected him.

At home, Matej reflected on the day that allowed him to speak out.

Now he knew that he had a voice worth hearing, and that friends are not gained only through loudness but with sincerity.
