Matevž was on the sunny pier in Koper, where the scent of salt and the sound of the sea were constant companions.

Bela jadra ladij so plapolala v vetru, ljudje so hiteli sem in tja, vse je bilo živahno, kot je pomlad vedno znala biti ob obali Jadrana.

The white sails of the ships fluttered in the wind, people hurried back and forth, and everything was lively, as spring always knew how to be on the coast of the Adriatic.

Matevž je bil poln pričakovanja, saj je prišel na težko pričakovani pomladni oddih.

Matevž was full of anticipation, as he had come for a long-awaited spring break.

Vendar pa se je, po svoji navadi, hitro lotil nerodnosti.

However, true to his habit, he quickly got into trouble.

Ko je hotel poiskati svoj kovček, ugotovi, da je njegovo prtljago nekdo zamenjal.

When he wanted to find his suitcase, he realized someone had swapped his luggage.

Namesto oblačil je v kovčku našel dolge vrvi in navigacijske karte.

Instead of clothes, he found long ropes and navigational charts in the suitcase.

Panika je narasla.

Panic rose.

Katarina, njegova prijateljica, je opazila, kako Matevž rine nos v napačen kovček in v smehu priskočila na pomoč.

Katarina, his friend, noticed how Matevž was sticking his nose into the wrong suitcase and burst into laughter as she came to help.

Bila je navajena Matevževih avantur.

She was used to Matevž's adventures.

"To mora biti mornar Iztokov kovček," mu reče, "bonus pa so le vse te smešne karte.

"This must be Iztok's sailor suitcase," she told him, "the bonus being all these funny charts."

"Matevž pritrdi, čeprav z resnim obrazom.

Matevž nodded, although with a serious face.

Ni si smel privoščiti, da bi klical varnostnike.

He couldn't afford to call the security officers.

Ne še.

Not yet.

Zato sta s Katarino sklenila, da izsledita Iztoka, ki je bil po pripovedovanju znan kot pozabljiv, a nasmejan mornar.

So they decided to track down Iztok, who was known for being forgetful yet cheerful.

Ko sta hitela skozi pomol, so mešani vonji rib in sveže pečenega kruha vabil lačne turiste.

As they rushed through the pier, the mixed scents of fish and freshly baked bread lured hungry tourists.

Iztok je bil ravno pri ladijski rampi, ko sta ga dohitela.

Iztok was just by the ship's ramp when they caught up with him.

Imel je značilno mornarsko kapo in sproščen smeh.

He had a distinct sailor's cap and a relaxed laugh.

"Tu si," zavpije Matevž vsa zadihan.

"There you are," Matevž shouted, all out of breath.

"Ah, ja, moj prijateljski zabavni kovček," reče Iztok in pokaže na Matevža.

"Ah, yes, my friendly fun suitcase," Iztok said, pointing at Matevž.

"Jaz sem imel oglednice," se nasmehne in pokaže svojo zmedo s kretnjami in nekaj polomljenimi besedami.

"I had postcards," he smiled, showing his confusion with gestures and some broken words.

Katarina sledi vsemu tem s kretnjami in smehom, z Matevžem pa se vsemu skupaj nasmejeta še bolj, ko se kovčka končno zamenjata.

Katarina followed all this with gestures and laughter, and she and Matevž laughed even more together when the suitcases were finally swapped.

Matevž je bil srečen, da mu ni bilo treba vključiti oblasti.

Matevž was happy he didn't have to involve the authorities.

Iztok pa, še vedno v smehu, jima na koncu podari kapo kot znak prijateljstva.

Iztok, still laughing, gave them a cap as a sign of friendship in the end.

Nazadnje se Matevž in Katarina še malo zadržita na molu, pogledata valovanje morja in smeje naredita načrte za naslednji dan.

Finally, Matevž and Katarina lingered a little longer on the pier, watched the sea waves, and laughed as they made plans for the next day.

In Matevž se odloči, da bo naslednjič bolj pazil.

And Matevž decided he would be more careful next time.

Ampak samo malo bolj.

But just a little more.

Vseeno si ljubi avanture in je trmast v tem, da bo še naprej iskal nove.

After all, he loved adventures and was stubborn in his desire to keep seeking new ones.

Ko sonce zahaja nad Koper, se poslovita od Iztoka in skupaj uživata še preostanek svojega pomladnega potovanja.

As the sun set over Koper, they bid farewell to Iztok and continued to enjoy the rest of their spring journey.

Matevž drži mornarsko kapo, Katarina pa mu pove: "Vedno je zabaven dan s tabo.

Matevž held the sailor's cap, and Katarina told him, "It's always a fun day with you."

" In tako, s pomladnim vetrom v laseh, zapustita pomol s še eno zgodbo več.

And so, with the spring wind in their hair, they left the pier with yet another story.
