"Ne vem, zakaj sva dopustila, da pride do tega," je rekla Mateja.

"I don't know why we let it come to this," said Mateja.

Her voice was soft but resolute.

Tomaž je pogledal proti njej in nato spet proti razgledu.

Tomaž looked at her and then back at the view.

"Odšel sem, ker sem moral slediti svojim sanjam," je rekel Tomaž.

"I left because I had to follow my dreams," Tomaž said.

Glas mu je bil svobodoljuben, a v njem je bilo slišati obžalovanje.

His voice was full of freedom, but there was regret in it.

"Vem, da s tem nisem bil pošten do tebe in družine."

"I know I wasn't fair to you and the family with that."

Mateja je prikimala.

Mateja nodded.

Ni bilo lahko, ko je Tomaž zapustil doma, a zdaj ni bilo več časa za obžalovanja ali zamere.

It wasn't easy when Tomaž left home, but now there was no time for regrets or grudges.

"Hočem narediti korak naprej," je dejala z rahlim nasmehom.

"I want to take a step forward," she said with a slight smile.

"Ni mi bilo lahko. Imel sem občutek, da me ne razumete," je priznal Tomaž.

"It wasn't easy for me. I felt like you didn't understand me," Tomaž admitted.

"Ampak zdaj, ko vidim, kaj vse sem zamudil, mi je težko."

"But now, when I see what all I've missed, it's hard for me."

Mateja in Tomaž sta nekaj trenutkov stala tiho.

Zvok piščečih ptic in šumenje vetra sta bila edina glasba.

Nato je Mateja naredila prvi korak; položila je roko na njegov ramo.
