In the late afternoon, as the golden sun hid behind the hills and a gentle wind played with the leaves on the ground, Marek and Zuzana walked along the edge of Bratislava.

Narazili na tekvicovú záhradu, obklopenú teplými farbami jesene.

They stumbled upon a pumpkin garden, surrounded by the warm colors of autumn.

Sem a tam sa váľali tekvice rôznych tvarov a veľkostí, a rozlične sa jagali vo svetle zapadajúceho slnka.

Here and there, pumpkins of various shapes and sizes lay scattered, glimmering differently in the light of the setting sun.

Dnes je Halloween, a ja ti ukážem, ako viem vyrezať tekvicu,“ zvolal Marek nadšene, držiac nôž a cítiac sa ako umelec pred prázdnym plátnom.

It's Halloween today, and I'll show you how I can carve a pumpkin," exclaimed Marek enthusiastically, holding a knife and feeling like an artist before a blank canvas.

Zuzana sa usmiala.

Zuzana smiled.

Vedela, že Marek sa snaží predviesť, hoci nikdy skutočne neskúšal vyrezávať tekvicu.

She knew that Marek was trying to impress, even though he had never actually attempted to carve a pumpkin before.

Marek, rozhodnutý zaimponovať, si vybral najväčšiu tekvicu.

Determined to make an impression, Marek chose the largest pumpkin.

Rozhodol sa pre zložité vzory, ktoré niekde videl na Internete.

He decided on intricate designs he had seen somewhere on the internet.

No čoskoro narazil na problém – riezal príliš hlboko, tekvica sa začala hroutiť pod jeho rukami a čoskoro už nevedel presne, čo ešte režie.

But soon, he ran into a problem—he cut too deeply, and the pumpkin began to collapse under his hands, and soon he didn't know exactly what he was carving.

„Ups,“ zasmial sa Marek, keď celá ťarcha jeho snahy skončila spolu s obrovskou tekvicou na zemi.

"Oops," laughed Marek, as all the weight of his effort ended with the massive pumpkin on the ground.

V tom okamihu však stratil rovnováhu, zrazil so sebou niekoľko ďalších tekvíc a spustil malú tekvicovú lavínu.

At that moment, however, he lost his balance, knocked over a few more pumpkins with him, and triggered a small pumpkin avalanche.

Gule všetkých veľkostí sa valili okolo, niekoľko sa rozkotalo o zem.

Spheres of all sizes rolled around, with several crashing to the ground.

Zuzana sa začala smiať, a Marek sa k nej rýchlo pridal.

Zuzana started laughing, and Marek quickly joined her.

„Asi som to trochu prehnal,“ priznal, škrabkajúc sa po šiji.

"I might have overdone it a bit," he admitted, scratching his neck.

Obaja sa pustili do smiechu, až im slzy tiekli po tvárach.

Both burst into laughter until tears ran down their faces.

Zuzana si kľakla vedľa neho a pomohla mu znovu nasičkať tekvica.

Zuzana knelt beside him and helped him sort through the pumpkins again.

Tentoraz Marek urobil jednoduchý návrh – pár trojuholníkov na oči a široký úsmev.

This time, Marek made a simple design—a couple of triangles for eyes and a wide smile.

„Vieš,“ povedala Zuzana nežne, „môže to byť jednoduché, ale je to roztomilé a úprimné.

"You know," said Zuzana gently, "it might be simple, but it's cute and sincere."

“ Marek sa na ňu pozrel a uvedomil si, že nie sú dôležité veľkolepé gestá, ale chvíle, ktoré spolu zdieľajú.

Marek looked at her and realized that grand gestures weren't important, but the moments they shared together were.

Ich spolupráca skončila priamo pred očami tekvice, ktorá teraz svietila rozkvitnutým úsmevom do jesenného večera.

Their collaboration ended right in front of the pumpkin, which now glowed with a blooming smile into the autumn evening.

Tak tam sedeli, obklopení zvyškami ich dobrodružstva, a pozorovali, ako sa noc zahalila do ticha, pričom si užívali jeden z najlepších Halloweenskych večerov.

So they sat there, surrounded by the remnants of their adventure, watching as the night cloaked in silence, enjoying one of the best Halloween evenings.
