Školský areál na strednej škole bol živý.
The school campus at stredná škola was lively.
Letné slnko vrhalo dlhé tiene na dráhu, kde sa študenti zhromažďovali, aby povzbudili svojich spolužiakov.
The summer sun cast long shadows on the track where students gathered to cheer on their classmates.
Among them was Miroslav, a determined athlete, who had been training for this day.
Among them was Miroslav, a determined athlete who had been training for this day.
He approached the starting line with a mix of anxiety and determination.
He approached the starting line with a mix of anxiety and determination.
With him on the track were Jana and Dominik, his good friends.
Jana vždy sršela energiou a dobrými radami, zatiaľ čo Dominik bol tichší, no o to viac podporujúci.
Jana was always brimming with energy and good advice, while Dominik was quieter but all the more supportive.
Obaja stáli na okraji dráhy, čakajúc na okamih, kedy môžu poskytnúť podporu.
Both stood at the edge of the track, waiting for the moment they could offer their support.
„Miro, neboj sa, máš to v sebe,“ povzbudzovala ho Jana.
"Miro, don't worry, you've got it in you," Jana encouraged him.
Miroslav nodded, trying to smile, but his thoughts were elsewhere.
He had been battling asthma for years and today he wished more than ever to prove to himself and others that he could push past his limits.
Štartér vystrelil pištoľou do vzduchu a preteky začali.
The starter fired the gun into the air and the race began.
Miro set off, his steps rhythmically tapping on the track.
The sun's rays beat down on his face, and the air was warm.
Krátko po začiatku zacítil prvé známky astmy.
Shortly after starting, he felt the first signs of asthma.
His chest began to tighten, and his breathing became increasingly shallow.
I won’t stop, Miroslav promised himself, even as his legs seemed heavier with each step.
All the while, he thought that this personal race of his wasn’t ending with just this step.
Rozhodol sa spomaliť.
He decided to slow down.
Pomaly a rovnomerne, len tak udržal kontrolu nad svojim dychom.
Slowly and evenly, only then could he maintain control over his breathing.
Miro sa snažil ignorovať ostatných pretekárov, ktorí ho prekonávali.
Miro tried to ignore the other racers who were overtaking him.
Jana watched his struggle from the edge of the track, her palms sweaty with tension.
Dominik sa k nej pridal, obaja sa snažili dodať Mirovi čo najviac povzbudenia.
Dominik joined her, both trying to give Miro as much encouragement as possible.
Boj pokračoval.
The struggle continued.
Miroslav felt like he was running against the wind, his body resisting.
Ale myšlienka na vzdanie sa neprišla.
But the thought of giving up never came.
He looked toward the finish line, which was steadily approaching.
Zhlboka sa nadýchol.
He took a deep breath.
Nezáleželo na tom, ako rýchlo bežia ostatní.
It didn’t matter how fast others ran.
Záležalo na tom, ako ďaleko došiel on sám.
What mattered was how far he had come on his own.
Konečne, túžiac po kyslíku, Miro preťal cieľovú pásku.
Finally, gasping for oxygen, Miro crossed the finish tape.
Bol posledný.
He was last.
No čakala ho búrka potlesku.
But he was met with a storm of applause.
Jana a Dominik ho hneď obklopili, ich tváre žiarili pýchou.
Jana and Dominik immediately surrounded him, their faces glowing with pride.
„To si zvládol,“ povedal Dominik s úsmevom, opatrene poklepal Miroslava po pleci.
"You did it," said Dominik with a smile, gently patting Miroslav on the shoulder.
Miroslav smiled, the sweat easing off his brow thoughtfully.
„Hej, zvládol som to,“ odpovedal Miro, jeho oči zračili novú sebadôveru.
"Yeah, I did it," replied Miro, his eyes reflecting newfound confidence.
Not an obsession to win, but a feeling of having faced a challenge and not breaking.
Slnko slablo na horizonte, štartištia a ich podpora sa rozchádzali, no Miroslav vedel, že dnes vyhral boj sám so sebou.
The sun was setting on the horizon, the track clearers and supporters were dispersing, but Miroslav knew that today he had won the battle with himself.
