Slnečný deň zaplavil Bratislavu teplým svetlom.
A sunny day bathed Bratislava in warm light.
Marek kráčal po námestí Starého Mesta.
Marek walked across the square of the Staré Mesto (Old Town).
Nad hlavou mu viali vlajky historických budov.
Flags from the historical buildings fluttered above his head.
Ľudia sa prechádzali, mestom rezonovala hudba pouličných umelcov.
People strolled around, and the music of street performers resonated throughout the city.
Marek mal iné myšlienky.
Marek had other thoughts.
Nedávno navštívil lekára a dozvedel sa niečo, čo ho prekvapilo.
He had recently visited a doctor and learned something that surprised him.
Diagnóza neznel optimisticky.
The diagnosis didn't sound optimistic.
"Choroba," zamumlal si pre seba a snažil sa predýchať tú novinku.
"Disease," he muttered to himself, trying to breathe through the news.
Ale ako to povedať Zuzane a Karolovi?
But how to tell Zuzana and Karol?
Zuzana sedela pri kaviarni na námestí.
Zuzana sat by a café on the square.
Videla Marekovu zamyslenú tvár a usmiala sa na neho.
She saw Marek's pensive face and smiled at him.
"Marek, čo sa deje?
"Marek, what's going on?"
" pýtala sa jemným hlasom, keď sa posadil vedľa nej.
she asked gently as he sat down next to her.
„Nič, len práca,“ odpovedal Marek rýchlo.
"Nothing, just work," Marek responded quickly.
Klamať Zuzane bolo také ťažké.
Lying to Zuzana was so difficult.
V diaľke ich pozoroval Karol.
In the distance, Karol observed them.
Pridružil sa k nim s dvoma šálkami kávy.
He joined them with two cups of coffee.
„Marek, máš zlú farbu,“ žartoval Karol.
"Marek, you don't look well," joked Karol.
Vedel však, že za jeho humorom bolo aj niečo hlbšie.
However, he knew that there was something deeper behind his humor.
Marek sa mu zdal čoraz uzavretejší.
Marek seemed more and more closed off to him.
Sedeli dlho v tichu, iba hlasy okolo nich znieľi.
They sat for a long time in silence, only the voices around them were audible.
Zrazu Marek odložil šálku.
Suddenly, Marek put down his cup.
"Musím vám niečo povedať," začal s trasúcim sa hlasom.
"I need to tell you something," he began with a trembling voice.
"Bol som u lekára.
"I went to the doctor.
Diagnóza je vážna a môže ma spomaliť.
The diagnosis is serious and it might slow me down."
"Zuzana natiahla ruku a chytila Marekovi dlaň.
Zuzana reached out and took Marek's hand.
Karol ztíchol, očami študoval Marekovu tvár.
Karol fell silent, his eyes studying Marek's face.
„Potrebujem, aby ste vedeli, že to zvládnem,“ dodal Marek rýchlo.
"I need you to know that I can handle it," Marek quickly added.
„Práca musí pokračovať.
"The work must go on."
“Zuzana sa usmiala a povedala: „Nie si na to sám, Marek.
Zuzana smiled and said, "You're not alone in this, Marek.
Sme tu pre teba.
We're here for you."
“ Karol prikývol.
Karol nodded.
Nežartoval viac, Marekovu situáciu bral vážne.
He no longer joked, taking Marek's situation seriously.
Marek cítil, ako sa mu srdce konečne upokojuje.
Marek felt his heart finally calming down.
Počas ďalších dní sa rozhodol začať liečbu.
In the following days, he decided to start treatment.
Uvedomil si, že nemusí byť silný sám.
He realized he didn't have to be strong on his own.
Užíval si spoločnosť tých, ktorí ho mali radi.
He enjoyed the company of those who cared about him.
Ako sa leto končilo, Marek stál na námestí, tentoraz s úsmevom.
As summer ended, Marek stood on the square, this time with a smile.
Vedel, že bude všetko v poriadku.
He knew everything would be okay.
Pretože nie je sám.
Because he's not alone.
Zuzana a Karol stáli vedľa neho, usmievali sa do slnka, pripravení čeliť akýmkoľvek prekážkam spoločne.
Zuzana and Karol stood by him, smiling into the sun, ready to face any obstacles together.
Bratislava bola nádherná, a tak bola aj budúcnosť.
Bratislava was beautiful, and so was the future.
