“Ladislav, why do you do such things?” he asked gently, perhaps too softly.

Ladislav pozrel na brata s únavou v očiach, ale i záujmom.

Ladislav looked at his brother with tiredness in his eyes, but also with interest.

„Neviem, Marek.

“I don’t know, Marek.

Veci sú ťažké,“ priznal sa so skleslosťou.

Things are tough,” he admitted with dejection.

Marek sa rozhodol.

Marek made his decision.

Nepovedal policajtom, že Ladislav je podozrivý.

He didn’t tell the policemen that Ladislav was a suspect.

Namiesto toho nádejne podal Ladislavovi ruku.

Instead, he hopefully extended his hand to Ladislav.

„Pomôžem ti, ak mi to dovolíš,“ navrhol.

“I will help you if you let me,” he suggested.
