In the deep spring, when Slovensko is adorned with fragrant flowers, Matej is walking with Jana and Lukáš around the campus of the boarding school.

Matúš's school, hidden among the rolling hills, was surrounded by budding trees.

Every year, students looked forward to the Easter holidays.

Yet Matej, who was away from home for the first time, wondered: How can he show his parents that he can take care of himself?

It was a warm and sunny day when Matej decided to take Janka and Lukáš shopping at a nearby center.

  • Všetci traja sa radostne vybrali k obchodom, plní očakávania radostného zhone nasýtiť oči pestrými veľkonočnými výlohami.

The three of them set off happily to the shops, full of anticipation to feast their eyes on colorful Easter displays.

  • Centrum bolo živé a plné nápaditých dekorácií: zajace, farebné vajíčka a sviatočné stoly.

The center was lively and filled with ingenious decorations: bunnies, colorful eggs, and festive tables.

At the checkout, where people were crowded, Matej felt the pressure.

  • Rozpočet bol obmedzený a chcel nájsť niečo, čo by jeho lásku a samostatnosť vyjadrilo rodičom.

The budget was limited, and he wanted to find something that would express his love and independence to his parents.

  • Jana a Lukáš sa smiali a navzájom sa predbiehali v skúšaní nového oblečenia.

Jana and Lukáš laughed and competed with each other in trying on new clothes.

However, Matej knew that this trip meant more to him.

He decided to separate from his friends for a while.

  • Krátko nato, čo ich opustil, zaujal ho krásne zabalený kôš plný tradičných slovenských veľkonočných dobrôt.

Shortly after he left them, he was captivated by a beautifully wrapped basket full of traditional Slovak Easter treats.

In the basket, there was glittering chocolate, and there were also decorated eggs and sausages.

Matej smiled – he knew that such a gift would surely delight his family.

Time passed quickly, and Matej was startled when he looked at his watch.

  • Nebol si istý, či to stihne na autobus späť do školy.

He wasn't sure if he would make it to the bus back to school.

  • S rýchlo bijúcim srdcom a balíkom darčekov v ruke sa ponáhľal k zastávke.

With his heart racing and a package of gifts in hand, he hurried to the stop.

  • Keď dobehne, autobus už stál, motor bežal, pripravený na odchod.

When he arrived, the bus was already there, the engine running, ready to depart.

  • “Snaž sa,” usmial sa vodič, keď videl Mateja bežať.

"Try hard," the driver smiled when he saw Matej running.

  • “Chytíš nás.

    "You'll catch us."

  • ” A tak Matej stihol autobus so sekundovým predstihom.

And so Matej caught the bus with a second to spare.

  • Cesta späť do kopcov internátnej školy mu ubiehala s úsmevom na perách.

The journey back to the hillside boarding school passed with a smile on his face.

  • Keď dorazil, Jana a Lukáš prišli za ním.

When he arrived, Jana and Lukáš came up to him.

They saw his satisfied smile and praised him for the gift.

  • “Matej, toto je perfektné,” povedali jednomyseľne.

"Matej, this is perfect," they said unanimously.

Matej felt that he had accomplished something significant.

  • Vybral dar starostlivo a s rovnakou starostlivosťou ho odniesol domov.

He chose the gift carefully and carried it home with the same care.

He was more independent and felt as if he had finally found his place among his classmates, ready to celebrate Easter with his family.
