  • Na policajnej stanici v Bratislave vládol ruch a zhon.

At the police station in Bratislava, there was hustle and bustle.

  • Jarné svetlo prenikalo cez úzke okná a kreslilo vzory na sivé steny.

Spring light pierced through the narrow windows, drawing patterns on the gray walls.

  • Telefóny zvonili a policajti sa ponáhľali vyšetriť viacero prípadov.

Phones rang, and officers hurried to investigate multiple cases.

  • Bolo nádherné jarné popoludnie.

It was a beautiful spring afternoon.

From outside, the remnants of the market could be heard, where Alena had just been a moment ago.

  • Marek sedel na nepohodlnej stoličke v rohu haly a nervózne si prekladával ruky.

Marek sat on an uncomfortable chair in the corner of the hall and nervously shifted his hands.

  • Mal tridsať rokov, bol premýšľavý, no vnútri úzkostný muž.

He was thirty, a thoughtful yet internally anxious man.

Today he came with a clear goal - to report a crime he witnessed at the Easter fair.

After a while, a police officer named Alena approached him.

  • „Môžem vám pomôcť?“ opýtala sa láskavo.

"Can I help you?" she asked kindly.

But Marek felt that his voice got lost somewhere deep in his throat.

He came with good intentions, but now he was afraid to speak.

  • Dlhou chvíľou ticha sa ozývalo len tikanie starých hodín.

In the long moments of silence, only the ticking of the old clock could be heard.

  • Marek sa snažil nájsť sústredenie.

    Marek tried to find focus.

  • „Áno," začal s chvením v hlase.

"Yes," he began, his voice trembling.

"I was at the market and saw something shocking."

  • Alena ho pozorne sledovala a povzbudila pohľadom.

Alena watched him closely and encouraged him with her gaze.

  • To dodalo Marekovi trochu odvahy.

That gave Marek a bit of courage.

  • „Na námestí bolo veľmi plno.

    "The square was very crowded.

  • Videli sme veľa predajcov, veľkonočné ozdoby, farbené vajíčka...

We saw many vendors, Easter decorations, painted eggs...

  • V tom momente som si všimol muža v tmavom oblečení," pokračoval Marek.

At that moment, I noticed a man in dark clothing," Marek continued.

"Shortly after he walked by, I saw that he had taken the wallet of a woman who was focused on one of the vendors."

  • Alena pozorne počúvala.

    Alena listened intently.

  • „Tento muž mal naozaj zvláštne správanie, mal na sebe zelenú bundu a čierne okuliare."

"This man really had odd behavior; he was wearing a green jacket and black glasses."

Marek spoke increasingly boldly, his anxiety dissipating.

  • V miestnosti zavládlo ticho, keď Marek dokončil svoj popis.

Silence filled the room when Marek finished his description.

His voice now seemed firm and decisive.

  • Alena prikývla a poznamenala si ďalšie detaily.

Alena nodded and took note of more details.

  • „Ďakujeme, Marek.

    "Thank you, Marek.

  • Váš popis je veľmi dôležitý.

    Your description is very important.

  • Postaráme sa o to," povedala s vďakou.

We'll take care of it," she said with gratitude.

  • Marek z hlboka vydýchol a pocítil príjemný pocit úľavy.

Marek exhaled deeply and felt a pleasant sense of relief.

  • Nikdy predtým nemal pocit, že by mohol skutočne niečo zmeniť, ale dnes prekonal samého seba.

Never before had he felt that he could truly make a difference, but today he overcame himself.

  • S Alenou sa rozlúčil a odišiel z policajnej stanice.

He said goodbye to Alena and left the police station.

Outside, spring was blossoming, and Marek felt like a new person - full of hope and with a sense of boldness.
