V Bratislave, kde slnko počas leta horí ulicami, bola jedna útulná kaviareň s názvom "Dom Freelandrov".
In Bratislava, where the sun blazes through the streets during summer, there was a cozy café named "Dom Freelandrov".
The aroma of fresh coffee mixed with the quiet hum of various authors who found inspiration for their works there.
Milan, mladý, ambiciózny spisovateľ, sedel za stolom blízko okna.
Milan, a young, ambitious writer, sat at a table near the window.
Objednal si silné espresso, aby zahnal svoje obavy.
He ordered a strong espresso to quell his worries.
Vedel, že ak by získal ten prestížny projekt, všetci by ho začali brať vážnejšie.
He knew that if he won the prestigious project, everyone would start taking him more seriously.
Ale vo vnútri bojoval so strachom z neúspechu.
But inside, he battled a fear of failure.
Na druhej strane miestnosti sedel Ladislav.
Across the room sat Ladislav.
Bol starší a uznávaný autor.
He was an older, respected author.
Jeho poličky doma boli plné výherných trofejí.
His shelves at home were full of winning trophies.
Yet he was troubled by the thought that younger authors like Milan could take away his fame and recognition.
Obaja vedeli, že na kaviarni dnes bude dôležité stretnutie so šéfredaktorom.
Both knew that there would be an important meeting with the editor-in-chief at the café today.
Obaja chceli ten istý projekt, ale len jeden z nich ho mohol získať.
Both wanted the same project, but only one of them could win it.
Napätie rástlo.
The tension was building.
Šéfredaktor navrhol, aby sa rozhodli špeciálnym spôsobom — mal by sa uskutočniť súťaž v písaní priamo v kaviarni.
The editor-in-chief suggested they decide in a special way — a writing contest right there in the café.
Ladislav obdivuhodne prikývol, zatiaľ čo Milan cítil zmes nervozity a vzrušenia.
Ladislav nodded admirably, while Milan felt a mix of nervousness and excitement.
Zvuk písacích strojov začal zapĺňať miestnosť.
The sound of typewriters began to fill the room.
Ladislav písal so skúsenosťou a istotou.
Ladislav wrote with experience and certainty.
Milan písal s vášňou a účasťou.
Milan wrote with passion and involvement.
Čas uplynul a šéfredaktor si vzal oba texty.
Time elapsed and the editor-in-chief took both texts.
The following few minutes felt endless until the editor-in-chief announced the winner.
„Milan je víťaz,“ povedal s úsmevom na tvári.
“Milan is the winner,” he said with a smile on his face.
Milan bol prekvapený a šťastný.
Milan was surprised and happy.
Ladislav sa postavil a podal Milanovi ruku.
Ladislav stood up and shook Milan's hand.
"Výborne napísané, máš veľký talent," priznal úprimne.
"Well written, you have great talent," he admitted sincerely.
Milan cítil, ako jeho pochybnosti unikajú.
Milan felt his doubts slipping away.
He realized that honesty and hard work are important.
Ladislav, though disappointed, acknowledged the young rival, and their rivalry transformed into respect.
„Dom Freelandrov“ zostával svedkom mnohých príbehov, ale tento deň sa stal dôležitým pre oboch spisovateľov.
"Dom Freelandrov" remained a witness to many stories, but this day became significant for both writers.
That day marked the beginning of a new chapter not only for Milan, but also for his place among esteemed authors.
