The golden autumn enveloped the vast expanses of Siberia with a gentle glow.
Rusty and golden trees flashed by outside the train car window, as if waving their leaves goodbye.
Traveling along the Trans-Siberian Railway filled the heart of each passenger with anticipation and a bit of anxiety.
In the compartment sat three people: Nikolai, Anastasia, and Lev.
Nikolai, gazing thoughtfully out the window, thought about his family.
The wind played along the rail, just as it once played in the leaves around their home.
He remembered his childhood, moments when they were inseparable.
People change, and here he was again with his brothers and sister after so many years.
He hoped that this trip would bring them closer once more.
Anastasia, an optimist at heart, tried to think positively.
The silence between them made her uneasy.
So much time had passed since they had last seen each other.
Her heart raced a bit as she tried to recall all the little details of their childhood.
Lev, more skeptical, pondered the meaning of this journey.
He didn't particularly believe that conversations could change anything.
"But if everyone agreed to gather together, then there must be some chance," he thought.
The conductor entered the compartment and offered tea.
The smell of black tea filled the air and slightly melted the ice in the atmosphere.
Nastya smiled, looking at her brothers.
Nikolai was the first to break the silence.
"Remember how we used to go to the cottage in autumn," he said, looking at them in turn.
"Yes, we often argued about who would pick mushrooms," Anastasia noted with a smile.
Lev snorted: "Those arguments always ended with a dash into the forest.
You, Nastya, always found the biggest mushrooms."
A leisurely conversation began, with memories surfacing one after another.
But the shadows of the past did not let go of them so easily.
Nikolai knew they needed to speak openly; otherwise, bitterness would remain in their hearts.
When the train made a short stop at a small station, Nikolai gathered all his courage and said: "We've been strangers to each other for too long.
I don't want past disagreements to continue dividing us."
Nastya looked at Nikolai seriously: "I'm sorry that we drifted apart then.
I think we all became prisoners of our grievances."
Lev listened silently, then sighed: "Perhaps we weren't always right.
But I want to find something good in this trip, not just remember the unpleasant things."
They spoke for a long time about everything that troubled them.
The conflict, like a fog, began to retreat, leaving space for clarity and understanding.
The scent of fresh autumn air brought new hopes with it.
The train moved on, heading toward the dawn.
They knew that once they returned home, they could be closer.
Nikolai felt relieved and promised himself he would always strive to keep this connection alive.
Family, though changed, remained an important part of his life.
In the evening, looking at the fleeting horizon, they were silent, but now it was not a silence of awkwardness, but a confident silence of understanding.
Their journey was just beginning, but they were already together, and that was the most important thing.
