В солнечный весенний день школьный автобус остановился у Государственного Дарвиновского музея в Москве.

On a sunny spring day, the school bus stopped at the Gosudarstvennyy Darvinovskiy muzey in Moskve.

Учительница открыла дверь, и группа ребят шумно вышла на тротуар.

The teacher opened the door, and a group of kids noisily stepped onto the sidewalk.

Среди них был Николай, мальчик с ярким интересом к динозаврам, но чуть-чуть побаивающийся говорить при других.

Among them was Nikolay, a boy with a bright interest in dinosaurs but slightly hesitant to speak in front of others.

Музей был огромный.

The museum was enormous.

Внутри царил особый аромат старого дерева и мрамора, а повсюду вокруг высились скелеты древних животных.

Inside, there was a distinct aroma of old wood and marble, and skeletons of ancient animals loomed all around.

Николай с замиранием сердца смотрел на всё это великолепие, пока учительница объясняла, что им предстоит экскурсия с гидом.

Nikolay looked at all this magnificence with bated breath while the teacher explained that they would have a guided tour.

Но Николай вдруг почувствовал желание показать свои знания.

But suddenly Nikolay felt a desire to show his knowledge.

Он знал, что нужно пересилить страх.

He knew he needed to overcome his fear.

"Я могу провести экскурсию!" — вдруг вырвалось у него.

"I can lead the tour!" he suddenly blurted out.

Все удивлённо посмотрели на него, но учительница с улыбкой кивнула.

Everyone looked at him in surprise, but the teacher smiled and nodded.

"Хорошо, Николай, попробуй!"

"Alright, Nikolay, give it a try!"

Началась экскурсия.

The tour began.

Николай шагнул вперёд, стараясь не выдать своей тревоги.

Nikolay stepped forward, trying not to show his anxiety.

Первым делом он остановился у громадного скелета тираннозавра.

The first thing he did was stop at the huge skeleton of a tirannozavr.

"Это тираннозавр... Один из крупнейших плотоядных динозавров," — начал он, стараясь говорить чётко.

"This is a tirannozavr... One of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs," he began, striving to speak clearly.

В какой-то момент он забылся и замер, не зная, что сказать дальше.

At one point, he faltered and froze, not knowing what to say next.

Но тут его поддержала Маша, его одноклассница.

But then Masha, his classmate, supported him.

"А ещё у тираннозавров были острые зубы и сильные челюсти!" — добавила она.

"And tirannozavry also had sharp teeth and strong jaws!" she added.

В этом месте залы наполнились одобрительными аплодисментами одноклассников, и Николай почувствовал, как его страх начал улетучиваться.

The hall filled with approving applause from the classmates, and Nikolay felt his fear begin to melt away.

Вдруг слова нашли сами собой, он вспомнил всё, что знал, и продолжил: "Да, верно, они были хорошими охотниками..."

Suddenly, the words came on their own; he remembered everything he knew and continued, "Yes, that's right, they were excellent hunters..."

Когда экскурсия подходила к концу, Николай вспоминал новые факты.

As the tour was nearing its end, Nikolay recalled new facts.

Его голос уже звучал уверенно, а одноклассники слушали с интересом.

His voice now sounded confident, and his classmates listened with interest.

Экскурсия удалась.

The tour was a success.

Школьный автобус увозил детей, Николай смотрел в окно и улыбался.

The school bus carried the children away, and Nikolay looked out the window and smiled.

Он был горд собой.

He was proud of himself.

Сегодня он не только справился со своим страхом, но и почувствовал поддержку друзей.

Today, he not only overcame his fear but also felt the support of friends.

Пасхальные праздники обещали быть особенно светлыми и радостными.

Easter holidays promised to be especially bright and joyful.

Теперь Николай знал: нет ничего страшного в том, чтобы проявить себя.

Now Nikolay knew: there's nothing to fear in showing oneself.

И, возможно, даже в следующем учебном году он снова возьмётся что-то рассказывать.

And perhaps, even next school year, he might volunteer to tell something again.

Ведь это оказалось не так уж и сложно.

After all, it turned out not to be so difficult.
