The autumn sun illuminated the arches of the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos with a golden light.

  • Matias e Inês caminhavam lado a lado pelas arcadas, em silêncio.

Matias and Inês walked side by side along the arcades, in silence.

The stone walls echoed their footsteps as the two siblings contemplated the shadows dancing on the ground.

Matias kept his hands in his pockets, looking ahead, his face tense.

Inês, on the other hand, gazed at the details of the columns, trying to find the courage to start the conversation she had postponed for so long.

The air was fresh, but not cold, typical of that autumn in Lisboa.

The monastery was filled with tourists, but Matias and Inês were immersed in their own world, an island of tension amidst the crowd.

  • Finalmente, quando chegaram aos jardins, Inês parou.

Finally, when they reached the gardens, Inês stopped.

  • Olhou para Matias com determinação.

She looked at Matias with determination.

"We have to talk, Matias," she said, her voice gentle but firm.

  • Matias soltou um suspiro.

    Matias let out a sigh.

"I don't know if there's anything left to say, Inês," he replied, frustration slipping into his voice.

Inês took a step toward her brother.

"I want to end this discomfort between us.

  • Sei que errei, mas..." Matias a interrompeu.

I know I was wrong, but..." Matias interrupted her.

  • "É mais do que isso.

    "It's more than that.

I felt betrayed," he confessed, his eyes fixed on Inês.

Inês felt tears forming, but she did not look away.

  • "Eu sei, e sinto muito por isso.

"I know, and I'm sorry for that.

The inheritance... it all seemed so important at the time, but I realize now that our relationship is worth more."

  • O vento murmurava entre as árvores enquanto Matias ponderava.

The wind murmured among the trees as Matias pondered.

There was an internal struggle visible in his gaze.

"I always wanted that to be recognized," he said, quietly.

Inês took a small step closer, extending her hand.

  • "Matias, vamos começar de novo?

    "Matias, can we start over?

  • Eu sinto falta do meu irmão."

    I miss my brother."

In the silence of the gardens, only the distant sound of traffic and the singing of birds could be heard.

Matias, finally, released the breath he was holding in his lungs.

  • "Está bem, Inês.

    "Alright, Inês.

  • Vamos tentar."

    Let's try."

They walked side by side toward the exit of the monastery, feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs and the promise of a new beginning ahead.

The morning shadows were left behind, and with them, past grievances.

Together, they began to rebuild not only the path in the monastery but also the bridge between their hearts.
