The sun was rising over Praia de Copacabana.
The waves gently broke on the sand as people strolled along the boardwalk with their morning smiles.
Rafael respirou fundo, sentindo a brisa do mar.
Rafael took a deep breath, feeling the sea breeze.
Ele estava nervoso, mas determinado.
He was nervous, but determined.
Today was the day to meet his sister Camila.

She lived in a different city, far from the family.
"Eu nĂŁo tenho tempo," ela sempre dizia.
"I don’t have time," she always said.
But deep down, Rafael knew there was more to it.
She held fears and memories that kept her from returning.
Rafael and Camila had arranged to meet near a kiosk.
Ele a viu se aproximar, elegante e séria.
He saw her approaching, elegant and serious.
Rafael acenou e abriu um sorriso caloroso.
Rafael waved and gave her a warm smile.
"Camila!
"Camila!
Que saudade!"
I missed you!"
he said, with genuine happiness in his voice.
"Certo, certo.
"Alright, alright.
Vamos direto ao ponto," disse Camila.
Let's get straight to the point," Camila said.
She was always practical, but there was also a nervousness in her eyes.
Rafael sugeriu dar uma volta na praia.
Rafael suggested taking a walk on the beach.
Ele tinha um plano.
He had a plan.
He wanted to take Camila on a nostalgic day.
Eles caminharam lado a lado.
They walked side by side.
They joked about the times they came to the beach as kids.
Camila smiled for the first time when she remembered getting popsicles with their dad.
Algo dentro dela parecia relaxar.
Something inside her seemed to relax.
Depois de um tempo, Rafael parou.
After a while, Rafael stopped.
"Camila," he began, "do you know why I asked you to come here?"
"Eu sei, Rafael.
"I know, Rafael.
But I really am busy," she replied, looking down.
"NĂŁo Ă© sĂł isso, e vocĂŞ sabe," disse Rafael gentilmente.
"It's not just that, and you know it," said Rafael gently.
"You miss the family as much as we miss you."
Camila olhou para o mar, em silĂŞncio.
Camila looked at the sea in silence.
Rafael continuou.
Rafael continued.
"É Dia dos Pais em breve.
"It's Dia dos Pais (Father’s Day) soon.
Papai ficaria tĂŁo feliz se vocĂŞ fosse."
Dad would be so happy if you went."
Camila suspirou.
Camila sighed.
"É... mas tambĂ©m Ă© difĂcil, sabe?
"Yeah... but it’s also hard, you know?
I feel like I’ve distanced myself so much that maybe I'm not the same anymore."
Rafael tocou o ombro dela.
Rafael touched her shoulder.
"NĂŁo importa quanto tempo passe.
"It doesn't matter how much time passes.
Você sempre será parte de nós."
You will always be a part of us."
As palavras dele a tocaram.
His words touched her.
Camila realized that despite her worries, the family bond was something she needed to face.
Algo que poderia lhe trazer paz.
Something that could bring her peace.
"Alright," she said finally, in a soft voice.
"Vou ao encontro no Dia dos Pais."
"I'll come to the meeting on Dia dos Pais."
Rafael sorriu com alĂvio.
Rafael smiled with relief.
"Eu sabia que vocĂŞ viria."
"I knew you would come."
The two continued walking along the beach, now talking more openly.
Camila allowed herself to smile more, feeling the support of her brother and how happy he was to have her there.
O dia do encontro chegou.
The day of the meeting arrived.
Camila was present, and the gathering was full of laughter and hugs.
She felt like she was starting to fit in again.
Rafael also learned to see his sister's reality, becoming more patient and understanding.
