    They waited until the corridors were empty before sneaking to the door.

    It was locked, but Sindre had seen the janitor use a special key earlier that week.

  • "Vi må finne nøkkelen," sa han.

    "We have to find the key," he said.

    She pointed to a corner where something was covered with an old blanket.

    When they pulled the blanket aside, it revealed the missing painting.

    It all made sense now.

  • "Vi må fortelle det til rektor," sa Sindre.

    "We have to tell the principal," Sindre said.

  • "Vi kan få maleriet tilbake til utstillingen.

    "We can get the painting back to the exhibition."

  • "Dagen etter var maleriet tilbake på sin rettmessige plass.

    The next day, the painting was back in its rightful place.
