Rudens saulei lēni krītot pār Cēsu drupām, dabā valdīja miers, kas pieskārās Jāņa sirdij.
As the autumn sun slowly descended over the ruins of Cēsis, a tranquility touched Jānis's heart.
Viņš un Liene stāvēja klusumā, vērojot, kā vēja vēsma dzenā rudens lapas drupu pavēnī.
He and Liene stood in silence, observing how the breeze played with the autumn leaves in the shade of the ruins.
Šodien bija Lāčplēša diena, un viņiem abiem bija jāizpilda vecmāmiņas pēdējā vēlme - izkaisīt viņas pelnus tur, kur senču vēsture saaug ar zemi.
Today was Lāčplēša Day, and they both had to fulfill their grandmother's last wish - to scatter her ashes where ancestral history mingles with the earth.
Jānis, cenšoties būt stiprais un praktiskais kā parasti, vēlējās pievērsties tradīcijai un veikt ceremoniju saskaņā ar vecmāmiņas norādījumiem.
Jānis, trying to be the strong and practical one as usual, wished to stick to tradition and conduct the ceremony according to their grandmother's instructions.
Taču Liene, iejūtoties māsas loma, vēlējās tajā ieaudzināt savas emocijas un pievienot vecmāmiņas mīļoto dzejoli.
However, Liene, taking on the role of a sister, wanted to infuse her emotions into it and include their grandmother's favorite poem.
"Liene, es domāju, ka mums vajadzētu pieturēties pie tā, kā bija plānots," teica Jānis.
"Liene, I think we should stick to the plan as it was," said Jānis.
Viņa acīs bija rūpes, aiz tām viņš slēpa mazliet bailes izjust nezināmo.
In his eyes were concerns, behind which he hid a bit of fear of the unknown.
"Bet Jāni, vecmāmiņa būtu gribējusi, lai mēs svinam viņas dzīvi, ne tikai ievērojam tradīciju," Liene atbildēja, turēdama cieši rokā nelielu, no papīra salocītu dzejoli.
"But Jāni, grandmother would have wanted us to celebrate her life, not just follow tradition," Liene replied, holding tightly a small poem folded from paper.
Viņas ierastais smaidīgums tika noslāpēts, pārdomājot svarīgumu izjūtām.
Her usual smile was dampened as she reflected on the importance of emotions.
Sarunā nebija viegluma, bet tā bija nepieciešama.
The conversation was not light, but it was necessary.
Viņi, aizgājušā ceļojuma laikā, devās uzdrupas centru.
During their journey, they moved towards the center of the ruins.
Pēkšņi debesis aptumsa, sāka līt spēcīgs lietus, un abi bija spiesti meklēt patvērumu vecu ozolu aizsegā.
Suddenly, the skies darkened, a heavy rain began, and they were both forced to seek shelter behind an old oak tree.
Tur, vēja šūpoles sargājumā, viņi sēdēja līdz pašam lietus beigām.
There, sheltered by the swaying wind, they sat until the rain stopped.
"Es atceros, kā viņa stāstīja par šīm vietām," Jānis sacīja, sniedzot mieru ar vārdiem.
"I remember how she told stories about these places," Jānis said, offering comfort with his words.
"Viņa bija īsta vēstures rubinātāja.
"She was a real history digger."
""Zini," Liene klusām piebilda.
"You know," Liene quietly added.
"Viņa man vienmēr teica, ka vēsturi veidojam mēs katrs personīgi.
"She always told me that we each personally shape history."
"Šī saruna vienoja viņu domas.
This conversation united their thoughts.
Liene lēnām atlocīja dzejoļa papīru, kamēr Jānis izņēma pelnu urnu.
Liene slowly unfolded the paper with the poem while Jānis took out the urn with ashes.
Abi piekrita apvienot savu pieeju - pasākumā būs ne tikai tradicionāla cieņa, bet arī dvēselisks veltījums.
They both agreed to combine their approaches - the event would include not only traditional respect but also a soulful tribute.
Debesīm noskaidrojoties, Liene sāka lasīt dzejoli, un Jānis klusi izkaisīja pelnus.
As the skies cleared, Liene began to read the poem, and Jānis quietly scattered the ashes.
Bija sajūta, ka vecmāmiņa ir līdzās, lieciniece viņu jaudām, kā savienot senču mantojumu ar jauno paaudzi.
There was a feeling that their grandmother was present, witnessing their strengths in connecting ancestral heritage with the new generation.
Ceremonija beidzās, nesot gan mieru, gan lepnumu.
The ceremony ended, bringing both peace and pride.
Jānis un Liene vienojās, ka turpmāk nebaidīsies pievienot sevi esošām tradīcijām.
Jānis and Liene agreed that from now on, they would not fear adding themselves to existing traditions.
Tā, pareizās sajūtas un tradīcijas apvienojumā, viņi atzīmēja ne tikai dienas, bet arī senatnes būtību.
Thus, in the fusion of the right feelings and traditions, they marked not only the day's essence but also the essence of the past.
Kad pēdējās saules stari pazuda aiz horizonta, brālis un māsa devās atpakaļ, paņemot līdzi vēstures elpu, ko debesīs uznesti pelni vairs nekad nezaudēs.
As the last rays of the sun disappeared beyond the horizon, brother and sister returned, carrying with them the breath of history, which the ashes lifted into the sky would never lose again.
