Elīna, the young and caring nurse, tiredly enters the duty room and sits down on the waiting chair.

Viņa dziļi ievelk elpu, mēģinot atbrīvoties no spriedzes, kas karājas gaisā kā smaga dūmaka.

She takes a deep breath, trying to free herself from the tension that hangs in the air like a heavy mist.

Blakus viņai apsēžas Juris - pacients ar hronisku slimību.

Next to her sits Juris - a patient with a chronic illness.

Viņš slimnīcā ierodas regulāri un arvien vairāk vēlētos justies kā mājās.

He regularly visits the hospital and increasingly wishes to feel at home.

"Labdien, Juris," Elīna sveicina viņu ar siltumu balsī, lai gan acīs joprojām redzams nogurums.

"Hello, Juris," Elīna greets him with warmth in her voice, although fatigue is still visible in her eyes.

"Labrīt, Elīna," atbild Juris, kurš cenšas izturēt sāpes ar smaidu.

"Good morning, Elīna," replies Juris, who tries to endure the pain with a smile.

Abiem šī slimnīca kļuvusi kā otrā māja.

This hospital has become like a second home for both of them.

Viņi nes mājās sveiksmi kā dāvanu ikdienai.

They carry home luck as a gift for everyday life.

Elīna jūt Juris sarežģīto stāvokli, taču arī viņas sirdī ir plaisas.

Elīna feels Juris's complicated condition, but there are also cracks in her own heart.

Viņa vēlas atrast jēgu savā darbā, jūtoties iztukšota.

She wants to find meaning in her work, feeling drained.

"Zini," Elīna sāk, pārdomājot, vai šis ir īstais brīdis atklāt savas domas, "dažreiz šķiet, ka visi mani spēki ir izsmelti.

"You know," Elīna begins, pondering whether this is the right moment to reveal her thoughts, "sometimes it seems like all my strength is exhausted.

Vai tas ir normāli?

Is that normal?"

"Juris pacel galvu.

Juris lifts his head.

Viņš raugās Elīnai acīs, it kā meklējot tur pazaudētu atspulgu.

"Es ticu, ka cilvēks var atrast spēku, ja viņš tic nākotnei," Juris piemetina cerīgi.

Šie vārdi Elīnai sniedz mieru.

These words bring peace to Elīna.

Viņa pieņem drosmīgu lēmumu: pārtraukumos pavadīt laiku kopā ar Juri, runājot un klausoties.

She makes a brave decision: to spend breaks with Juris, talking and listening.

Viņa atklāj, ka runāšana ar viņu viņai dod sajūtu, ka dzīvei ir vērtība.

She discovers that talking with him gives her the feeling that life has value.

Reiz, sēžot blakus un vērojot koku dejojošas ēnas, Juris nolemj būt atklātāks.

Once, sitting together and watching the dancing shadows of the trees, Juris decides to be more open.

"Zini, Elīna," viņš sāk, "bija laiks, kad es neredzēju cerību.

"You know, Elīna," he starts, "there was a time when I saw no hope.

Tu mainīji to," viņš pateicībā skandina.

You changed that," he declares with gratitude.

Elīna aizskarts smaida.

Elīna smiles, touched.

Viņai saprotams, ka viņi abi kļuvuši par balstiem viens otram.

She realizes that they have both become supports for each other.

Šodien tas ir mazs Pateicības svētki, pat ja tādus Latvijā nesvin.

Today is a small Thanksgiving, even if it's not celebrated in Latvia.

Klusa apņemšanās uzvirmo gaisā.

A quiet commitment stirs in the air.

Viņi sola turpmāk atbalstīt viens otru un turpināt šo draudzību arī ārpus slimnīcas sienām.
