Gaujas nacionālā parka malā, nelielā ciematā, trīs brāļubērni Eduards, Zane un Maija pacēla prasīgos skatienus uz vecmāmiņas māju.
At the edge of the Gaujas National Park, in a small village, the three siblings Eduards, Zane, and Maija lifted their expectant gazes to their grandmother's house.
Saule stāvēja augstu, apliecinot, ka vasara ir klāt.
The sun stood high, affirming that summer was here.
Spodras smaržas aplidoja apkārt.
Bright aromas floated around.
Lieta tāda - bija Jāņu priekšvakars, un šajos laukos tas bija īpašs laiks.
The thing was—it was the eve before Jāņi, and in these fields, it was a special time.
Eduards gāja pa pļavu, sajūsmināts.
Eduards walked across the meadow, excited.
He wanted to breathe in the freshness of nature, hear the rustling of the wind between the birches and maples.
"Šeit es jūtu dzīvi," viņš teica, kad Zane pārgāja viņam garām ar skeptisku sejas izteiksmi.
"I feel life here," he said when Zane passed him with a skeptical expression.
Zane raudzījās apmetušajā kokā aiz mājas.
Zane looked at the ivy-covered tree behind the house.
"Kā mēs to visu varam uzturēt?" viņa jautāja.
"How can we maintain all of this?" she asked.
"Veikalā ir viss zem viena jumta.
"At the store, everything is under one roof.
Rīga ir drošība.
Rīga is security.
Šeit... visur meži un putekļi."
Here... forests and dust everywhere."
Maija abi klausījās, smaidot mierīgi.
Maija listened to both, smiling calmly.
She liked seeing the siblings together, even if they were squabbling.
"Šī ir mūsu vieta," Maija sacīja.
"This is our place," Maija said.
Vakaram iestājoties, ciemata ielās sākās Jāņu svinības.
As evening descended, the Jāņi celebrations began in the village streets.
Eduards pacēla alu, jau sajūtot Līgo garšu.
Eduards raised a beer, already tasting the flavor of Līgo.
Viņš redzēja, kā Zane kaut-ko meklēja, neveikli mēģinot iejukt burzmā.
He saw Zane searching for something, awkwardly trying to blend into the crowd.
“Es pievienošieši tautas dejā," Eduards nolēma.
"I'll join the folk dance," Eduards decided.
Viņš paķēra Zani aiz rokas un veda viņu pie citiem dejotājiem.
He grabbed Zane by the hand and led her to the other dancers.
"Skaties," viņš lūkojās, "šīs ir mūsu saknes.
"Look," he pointed, "these are our roots.
Tas ir mūsu mantojums."
This is our heritage."
The debate began like a curling wave but soon turned into a mythical discussion.
Zane nenoticēja, ka lauku dzīve varētu aizstāt pilsētas komfortu un drošību.
Zane could not believe that country life could replace the comfort and security of the city.
Eduards uz tvēra tūlīt.
Eduards immediately grasped it.
"Te ir nozīme," viņš teica kaislīgi.
"There is meaning here," he said passionately.
Maija ielēca, pirms karstums pieauga pārāk augsts.
Maija jumped in before the heat rose too high.
"Atceraties," viņa norādīja siltāka tonī, "kā mēs reiz pļāvām zāli un dzērām vecmāmiņas kompotu?
"Remember," she reminded in a warmer tone, "how we once mowed grass and drank grandma's compote?
Tik daudz smieklu, tik daudz atmiņu."
So much laughter, so many memories."
Šī pārmaiņa, kas viņos notika, bija negaidīta.
This change that occurred in them was unexpected.
Zane sāka saprast ciemata ritmu.
Zane began to understand the village rhythm.
She watched as children lit torches and women wove wreaths.
Tajā bija vienkāršība.
There was simplicity in it.
Siltums.
Warmth.
As the bonfire revealed another incredible secret, the lightness led them all to a candle.
Eduards realized that food and the city are life realities, but that does not mean one should forget their roots.
Savukārt Zane jutās citādi.
Meanwhile, Zane felt differently.
"Varbūt dzīve te nav tik slikta," viņa atzina, apskaujusi Eduardu un smaidot Maijai.
"Maybe life here isn't so bad," she admitted, hugging Eduards and smiling at Maija.
Maija paspieda viņai roku, un trijotne sagāja kopā gavilēt.
Maija squeezed her hand, and the trio came together to celebrate.
Stars began to appear, and with that, their story remained behind a closed circle.
Zane piedzīvoja patiesu vasaras brīnumu, un šeit, ciemata koka saknēs, viņa beidzot redzēja dabu un cieņu.
Zane experienced a true summer wonder, and here, in the roots of the village trees, she finally saw nature and respect.
