Vasaras vidū, Jāņu vakarā, Kemeru purvs elpoja dzīvi un mistēriju.
In the middle of summer, on Jāņu evening, the Ķemeri bog breathed life and mystery.
Tā koka takas slējās cauri sūnainiem krastiem un zemos priedulājiem.
Its wooden paths stretched through mossy shores and low pine forests.
The heaviness of air from the wet ground and wild grass filled visitors with an unparalleled richness.
Kārlis and Inese walked along the bog path with heavy steps.
Abi bija klusībā, domās aizklīduši katrs savu ceļu.
Both were silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
Unresolved disagreements that had lasted for years loomed like a rain cloud threatening a storm.
"Tur," teica Kārlis, norādot uz teritoriju netālu no maza dīķa.
"There," said Kārlis, pointing to an area near a small pond.
It had been heard of a necklace that once disappeared right there, when they celebrated Jāņi there with friends years ago.
Inese touched her necklace, trying to remember the time when their friendship was strong and untouched by anger.
"Neticu, ka to joprojām varētu atrast," viņa nosprieda.
"I don't believe it could still be found," she concluded.
Debesīs ievibrējās pirmais pērkons, paziņojot par tuvojošos vētru.
The first thunder rumbled in the sky, announcing the approaching storm.
"Mums vajadzētu doties projām," Inese ieteica, taču Kārlis bija nešaubīgs.
"We should leave," Inese suggested, but Kārlis was resolute.
"Es to meklēšu, līdz atradīšu.
"I will search for it until I find it."
"Lietus sāka smidzināt, kļūstot par plūsmošu kaskādi.
Rain began to sprinkle, turning into a flowing cascade.
Kārlis struggled against the wind, nearly losing his balance on the wet wooden path.
"Es zinu, ka tas šeit ir," viņš murrāja sev, acīm turot dīķa malai.
"I know it's here," he muttered to himself, keeping his eyes on the pond's edge.
Pērkona spērieni sagrāva debesis.
Strikes of thunder shattered the sky.
Tad viņš to pamanīja — kaklarota, sapinusies sūnās pie dīķa malas.
Then he noticed it—the necklace, tangled in the moss at the pond's edge.
Tikko sutējās zibens, aizķerot zemi tuvu.
Lightning flickered, striking the ground close by.
Inese kliedza: "Kārli, mums jāiet!
Inese shouted: "Kārlis, we need to go!"
"Bet viņš stāvēja kā akmenī iedzīts, vecās sāpēm izdalot uz pilnām ugunīm visapkārt.
But he stood as if rooted to the spot, unleashing old pains with full force all around.
Piecēlies ar atrastu mantu rokām, viņš sacīja: "Es atradu.
Rising with the found item in hand, he said, "I found it."
"Ātri devās uz tuvāko slēpņi, kur abi nokļuva drošībā kādā mazā nojumei attāli purva stūrī.
Quickly, they made their way to a nearby shelter, finding safety in a small shed at a distant corner of the bog.
The storm raged outside, but here, between the walls, it was so quiet they could only hear their heartbeats.
Inese raudzījās uz kaklarotā, kura spīdēja vieglajā ugunsspengā.
Inese looked at the necklace, which shone in the gentle light of the fire.
"Mums vajadzētu atlaist," Inese teica ar vieglu nožēlu balsī.
"We should let it go," Inese said with a slight tone of regret.
"Viss, kas mūs šķīra," viņa piebilda.
"Everything that separated us," she added.
Kārlis agreed, and silently he realized that friendship is more valuable than past grievances.
Jāņu nakts govēja, un, kad vētra pārgāja, abi klusi atgriezās pa taku atpakaļ, kur gaisma sāk līst agrā rītā.
Jāņi night lingered, and as the storm passed, they quietly returned along the path where the light began to spill into the early morning.
Draudzība atjaunojusies, viņi iet līdzās, atstājot pagātni purva aizmirstībai, bet ar jaunas sākuma pārpilnumu.
With their friendship renewed, they walked alongside each other, leaving the past to be forgotten in the bog but with the richness of a new beginning.
