  • Jūrmala ziemā izskatās pavisam citādi.

Jūrmala in winter looks entirely different.

People often imagine Jūrmala in the summer, with warm sand and sunny days.

But today the sky was blue and the wind was cold.

  • Smiltis bija mitras, jūras viļņi šalca fonā, un nekur nebija ne miņas no sniega.

The sand was wet, the sea waves roared in the background, and there wasn't a trace of snow anywhere.

Ilze, Andris, and Mārtiņš headed to the beach, driven by pure enthusiasm and recklessness.

Ilze had decided that the monotony of winter should be shattered with something unusual.

  • "Būsim sniegavīru pie jūras," viņa teica ar dzirkstī acīs.

"Let's build a snowman by the sea," she said, her eyes sparkling.

  • "Ilze, kā mēs būvēsim sniegavīru, ja nav sniega?

"Ilze, how are we going to build a snowman if there's no snow?"

  • " Andris jautāja skeptiski.

    Andris asked skeptically.

  • Bet Ilze jau bija izdomājusi, ka var izmantot slapjās smiltis.

But Ilze had already thought of using the wet sand.

  • "Mums tikai jāpamēģina," viņa teica, mudinot abus draugus.

"We just have to try," she said, encouraging her two friends.

  • Mārtiņš iesaucās: "Tas taču būs jautri!

Mārtiņš exclaimed, "It will be fun!

  • Iedomājies, cik tas būs neticami!

Imagine how incredible it will be!

  • Sniegavīrs pludmalē bez sniega!

A snowman on the beach without snow!"

  • "Viņi ķērās pie darba.

    They set to work.

  • Mārtiņš vilka mitrās smiltis ar spaini, Andris veidoja kaudzi, un Ilze to veidoja sniegavīra formā.

Mārtiņš was pulling wet sand with a bucket, Andris was piling it up, and Ilze was shaping it into the form of a snowman.

  • Aukstais vējš raustīja viņu šalles, bet viņi turpināja.

The cold wind tugged at their scarves, but they continued.

  • Viņu smiekli atbalsojās tukšajā pludmalē.

Their laughter echoed on the empty beach.

  • Pamazām sniegavīrs veidojās.

    Gradually, the snowman took shape.

It wasn't as big as a classic snowman, but its form was recognizable.

  • Tikko viņiem izdevās uzlikt pēdējo smilšu "vāciņu" sniegavīram, pēkšņi no nekurienes šķīla kaija.

Just as they managed to place the final sand "cap" on the snowman, a seagull suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

It landed directly on the "snowman" and with one swift move destroyed it completely.

  • Draugi sastinga no izbrīna.

    The friends froze in surprise.

  • Bet tad Ilze sāka smieties.

But then Ilze started to laugh.

  • Ātri piebiedrojās arī Andris un Mārtiņš.

Andris and Mārtiņš quickly joined in.

  • "Nu jā, mūsu sniegavīrs laikam nebija tik stiprs," Andris noteica, vēl pasmaidot.

"Well, it seems our snowman wasn't that strong after all," Andris remarked, still smiling.

  • Viņi nolēma, ka pietiks.

    They decided that was enough.

  • "Vai ejam uz kafejnīcu?

"Shall we go to a café?

  • Karsta šokolāde varētu būt tieši tas, kas vajadzīgs," Mārtiņš piedāvāja.

Hot chocolate might be just what we need," suggested Mārtiņš.

And together, surprised yet satisfied with the time spent together, they headed to the nearest café.

Ilze realized that victory or a completed task wasn't important, but rather the adventure and the company of friends.

  • Un šī piedzīvojuma dēļ ziemas diena Jūrmalā kļuva neaizmirstama.

And because of this adventure, the winter day in Jūrmala became unforgettable.
