Rīgas lidosta bija pilna ar cilvēkiem.
The Rīgas airport was full of people.
Visi izskatījās satraukti un noguruši.
Everyone looked anxious and tired.
A snowstorm was raging outside, and all the planes were either delayed or canceled.
Milzīgie logi rādīja tikai baltu sniega segumu, kas neļāva lidmašīnām pacelties gaisā.
The huge windows showed only a white blanket of snow, which prevented planes from taking off.
Anitas sirds pukstēja straujāk; viņai bija svarīga sapulce citā pilsētā.
Anita's heart was beating faster; she had an important meeting in another city.
Viņa steidzīgi pārskatīja savu datora ekrānu, cerot uz brīnumu, ko tomēr neatrada.
She hastily reviewed her computer screen, hoping for a miracle that she didn't find.
Jānis, mierīgā noskaņā, baudīja karstu tēju.
Jānis, in a calm mood, was enjoying a cup of hot tea.
It was his day off, and he dreamed of returning home to his family.
Tālumā viņš pamanīja Anitu, kura izskatījās ļoti uztraukusies.
In the distance, he noticed Anita, who looked very worried.
Tas viņu uzrunāja; šādos brīžos bieži vien bija svarīgi palikt mierīgam.
It moved him; in such moments, it's often important to stay calm.
Viņš piecēlās un piegāja pie viņas.
He stood up and approached her.
"Labdien," viņš teica smaidot.
"Hello," he said with a smile.
"Vai varu palīdzēt?"
"Can I help you?"
Anita bija pārsteigta, bet uzreiz juta, ka šis cilvēks varētu būt uzticams.
Anita was surprised, but immediately felt that this person could be trustworthy.
"Labdien," viņa atrunāja.
"Hello," she replied.
"Man ir jānonāk uz sapulci, bet izskatās, ka visi lidojumi ir atcelti."
"I have to get to a meeting, but it looks like all flights are canceled."
Rita, kura strādāja par ceļojumu aģenti, skrēja no vienas kases uz otru, cenšoties palīdzēt pasažieriem.
Rita, who worked as a travel agent, was running from one counter to another, trying to help the passengers.
Viņas seja bija nogurusi, bet acis joprojām centās atrast risinājumus.
Her face was tired, but her eyes were still trying to find solutions.
Anita izmisīgi piegāja arī pie viņas.
Anita desperately approached her as well.
"Viss ir aizkavēts," Rita teica.
"Everything is delayed," Rita said.
"Vienīgais veids, kā iespējams nokļūt, ir ar automašīnu uz tuvāko pilsētu, kur lidosta vēl darbojas."
"The only way you could make it is by car to the nearest city where the airport is still operating."
Anitai prātā nāca ideja.
An idea came to Anita's mind.
Viņa pagriezās pret Jāni:
She turned to Jānis:
"Jums, iespējams, ir pieredze ar tādiem laikapstākļiem.
"You probably have experience with such weather.
Could we possibly contact other people and rent a car to get to that city?"
Jānis piekrita.
Jānis agreed.
"Es varu vadīt automašīnu.
"I can drive.
Un man ir dažas zināšanas par to, kā vadīt sniegā."
And I have some knowledge about how to drive in the snow."
Rita piebilda:
Rita added:
"Es varu palīdzēt atrast automašīnu un citus ceļotājus, kas varētu dalīties izmaksās."
"I can help find a car and other travelers who could share the costs."
Dažu stundu laikā viņi izplānoja ceļu.
Within a few hours, they planned the route.
Anitai un Jānim pievienojās vēl divi pasažieri.
Anita and Jānis were joined by two more passengers.
The journey was long and snowy, but Jānis drove the car skillfully.
Viņi visi vienojās par to, cik svarīgi ir palīdzēt cits citam.
They all agreed on how important it is to help each other.
Beidzot viņi sasniedza citu lidostu.
Finally, they reached the other airport.
Anita paguva uz savu lidojumu.
Anita made it to her flight.
Viņa sajuta, ka grūtā situācijā ir iemācījusies kaut ko jaunu - uzticēties citiem un palikt mierīgai.
She felt that in a difficult situation she had learned something new - to trust others and stay calm.
Viņa pateicās Jānim un Ritai par palīdzību, saprotot, cik vērtīgi bija saņemt negaidītu atbalstu.
She thanked Jānis and Rita for their help, realizing how valuable it was to receive unexpected support.
Anita thought that sometimes more important than reaching a goal on time is understanding how responsive and respectful others can be.
Viņa apsolīja sev, ka turpmāk, saskaroties ar grūtībām, viņa atcerēsies šo ceļojumu un to, ko viņa tur iemācījusies.
She promised herself that in the future, when faced with difficulties, she would remember this journey and what she had learned from it.
Lidosta nu palika aiz muguras, bet mācība dzīvē paliks ilgi.
The airport was now behind her, but the lesson in life would stay for a long time.
