Vilniaus policijos skyriuje, kai saulėta vasaros diena kvietė žmones į lauko terasas, Giedrius ir Eglė stovėjo ilgoje eilėje.

In the Vilniaus police department, when a sunny summer day invited people to outdoor terraces, Giedrius and Eglė stood in a long line.

Stovėjimas minioje Giedriui nepatiko.

Standing in the crowd did not sit well with Giedrius.

Jis jautėsi labiau saugiai nei azartingai, tačiau jos patarimas buvo aiškus: „Reikia pranešti apie vagystę“.

He felt more safe than thrilled, but her advice was clear: "We need to report the theft."

Tą rytą, kai jie buvo apsipirkti prekybos centre, Giedrius pastebėjo, kad jo rankinėje nebėra naujutėlaičio telefono.

That morning, when they were shopping at the shopping center, Giedrius noticed that his brand new phone was missing from his purse.

Pirma mintis buvo: „Kam čia gaišti laiką su policija?“.

His first thought was: "Why waste time with the police?"

Tačiau Eglė nenuleido rankų. „Giedriau, reikia pasitikėti sistema. Gal yra kameros, kurios padės“.

However, Eglė was persistent. "You need to trust the system. Maybe there are cameras that can help."

Policijos skyrius buvo pilnas žmonių.

The police department was full of people.

Choras balsų maišėsi su telefono skambučiais ir dokumentų šniokštimu.

A chorus of voices mixed with phone calls and the rustling of documents.

Eilės judėjo lėtai, o Giedrius, su savo atsargumu, vis dar dvejojo.

The lines moved slowly, and Giedrius, with his caution, still hesitated.

„Gal nieko nebus...“ pasakė jis tyliai, bet Eglės ryžtas nenuslopo.

"Maybe nothing will come of it..." he whispered, but Eglė's determination did not waver.

Galiausiai, po ilgos laukimo valandos, jie pagaliau pasiekė administracinį langelį.

Finally, after a long hour of waiting, they reached the administrative window.

Policijos pareigūnas draugiškai pasitikęs porą, išklausė jų istoriją.

A friendly police officer, who welcomed the couple, listened to their story.

„Turime kameras prekybos centre. Galbūt turime ką nors, kas jums padėtų“, – su šypsena patvirtino pareigūnas.

"We have cameras at the shopping center. Maybe we have something that can help you," the officer confirmed with a smile.

Po kurio laiko grįžęs policininkas šypsojosi.

After a while, the policeman returned, smiling.

„Laimei, jūsų daiktas buvo surastas netoliese, dėka vaizdo įrašo“, – pasakė jis.

"Fortunately, your item was found nearby, thanks to the video footage," he said.

Giedrius buvo nustebęs ir, nors iš pradžių nedrąsiai, padėkojo už pagalbą.

Giedrius was surprised and, though initially hesitant, thanked them for their assistance.

„Ačiū, Egle, kad spyriai mane“, – šypsodamasis sakė jis.

"Thank you, Egle, for pushing me," he said, smiling.

Kai pora išėjo iš stoties, Giedrius jausmingai pridėjo: „Galbūt yra prasmės pasitikėti ir procese, ir žmonėse“.

As the couple left the station, Giedrius added emotionally, "Maybe there's a point in trusting both the process and people."

Eglės veide spindėjo pergalės šypsena.

A triumphant smile shone on Eglė's face.

Tą savaitės vakarą, kai saulė leidosi už lietingųjų Vilniaus senamiesčio bokštų, Giedrius suprato optimizmo galią.

That weekday evening, as the sun set behind the rainy towers of Vilniaus Old Town, Giedrius understood the power of optimism.

Pasitikėdamas daugiau nei bet kada anksčiau, jis nusprendė – kartais verta rizikuoti tikėjimu, net ir mieste, kuriame, rodos, viskas neaišku.

Trusting more than ever before, he decided – sometimes it's worth taking a chance on faith, even in a city where everything seems uncertain.
