京都のある病院の中、紅葉の季節の香りが漂っていました。

Within a hospital in Kyoto, the fragrance of autumn leaves filled the air.

病院の窓からは、鮮やかな秋の色が映えます。

From the hospital window, the vibrant colors of autumn stood out.

外の景色とは裏腹に、病院の中は忙しさでいっぱいです。

Contrary to the scenery outside, the inside of the hospital was bustling with activity.

体育の日のケガで、患者がたくさん運ばれてきていました。

Due to injuries from Sports Day, many patients were being brought in.

ハルキは、この秋の午後に二重シフトで働く看護師です。

Haruki is a nurse working a double shift on this autumn afternoon.

彼女は非常に献身的で、患者たちが快適に過ごすことを何よりも大切にしています。

She is extremely dedicated and prioritizes the comfort of her patients above all else.

しかし、こんな忙しい日は特に心配です。彼女には、あやという長く病院にいる患者を特に気にかけているからです。

However, she is particularly concerned on such a busy day because of a patient she cares for deeply, a long-term patient named Aya.

「あやさん、今日はどうですか？」と、ハルキはあやの部屋に入ると声をかけます。

"Aya-san, how are you today?" Haruki asks as she enters Aya's room.

あやは微笑みながら、「今日はちょっと退屈です。でも元気です」と答えます。

Aya smiles and replies, "Today is a bit boring, but I'm feeling good."

病院は体育の日でさらに忙しく、ハルキはまるで嵐の中にいるかのように、仕事に追われます。

The hospital was even busier because of Sports Day, and Haruki felt as if she were being chased by a storm of work.

今度の休憩時間もあやと話すことは難しそうでした。

There seemed to be little chance of talking with Aya during her next break.

そこで、ハルキは決断します。

So, Haruki made a decision.

彼女は同僚である落ち着いた雰囲気の医者、ユキの助けを借りることにしました。

She decided to seek the help of her calm colleague, a doctor named Yuki.

ユキはいつも穏やかで、どんな時も冷静です。

Yuki is always serene and remains calm under any circumstances.

彼もまた忙しかったですが、ハルキの真剣な気持ちを理解し、サポートを快く引き受けます。

Although he was busy too, he understood Haruki's sincere feelings and gladly agreed to support her.

「一緒に頑張りましょう」とユキは言います。

"Let's do our best together," Yuki said.

患者たちのケアに奔走する合間に、ハルキはあやに小さなプレゼントを用意しました。

Amidst rushing around taking care of patients, Haruki prepared a small gift for Aya.

それは、体育の日をテーマにした小さな人形です。

It was a small doll themed around Sports Day.

「これを見て、少しでも元気になってもらえたら嬉しい」とハルキは言いました。

"I hope this can cheer you up a bit," Haruki said.

疲れ切ったシフトの終盤、ハルキはようやく落ち着いた時間を見つけ、あやの元を訪れました。

Towards the end of her exhausting shift, Haruki finally found some peaceful time to visit Aya.

「今日の体育の日の話をしましょう」とハルキは提案します。

"Let's talk about today's Sports Day," Haruki proposed.

そして、彼女は子供たちが参加する運動会の話や、空を舞うドローンの映像がどれほど楽しかったかを語ります。

She shared stories about the children's athletic meet and how enjoyable the footage of drones flying across the sky was.

話を聞くにつれ、あやの目には輝きが戻りました。そして、久しぶりに彼女の顔に笑顔が浮かびます。

As she listened, a sparkle returned to Aya's eyes, and a smile reappeared on her face for the first time in a while.

「今日、少し元気になりました。本当にありがとう、ハルキさん」とあやは感謝を伝えます。

"I feel a bit better today. Thank you so much, Haruki-san," Aya expressed her gratitude.

その日、シフトが終わったとき、ハルキはくたびれていましたが、心には大きな満足感がありました。

When the shift ended that day, Haruki was exhausted but filled with immense satisfaction.

彼女は、患者一人ひとりへの細やかな気配りが大切だと改めて感じました。

She realized once again the importance of caring attention to each patient.

一人の笑顔が、すべての苦労を報いるからです。

A single smile makes all the hard work worthwhile.

The lesson Haruki learned was that no matter how busy the day is, heartfelt caregiving can powerfully aid patient recovery.
