秋の風が心地よく吹く田舎の寄宿学校で、文化祭の準備が始まった。

この学校は古い建物に囲まれ、色とりどりの紅葉がその美しさを際立たせていた。

This school is surrounded by old buildings, and the colorful autumn leaves enhance its beauty.

学生たちは、道に落ちた葉を踏みしめながら、忙しそうに道具や飾りを運んでいた。

The students, stepping on the leaves that had fallen on the path, busily carried tools and decorations.

はるとは、内向的で勉強熱心な生徒だった。

Haruto was an introverted and studious student.

しかし、心の中では演劇に強い興味を持っていた。

However, deep inside, he had a strong interest in theater.

文化祭での学校劇に参加したいと思っていたが、彼の内気さが邪魔をしていた。

He wanted to participate in the school play for the bunkasai, but his shyness was holding him back.

「みんなの前で失敗するなんて絶対嫌だ」と思っていた。

He thought, "I absolutely hate the idea of failing in front of everyone."

学校では、元気で社交的なゆきが劇のリーダーとしてみんなを取りまとめていた。

At the school, the energetic and sociable Yuki was organizing everyone as the leader of the play.

彼女はスムーズに指示を出し、みんなから信頼されていた。

She gave directions smoothly and was trusted by everyone.

さくらは、はるとの親友で、彼のことをいつも心配していたが、あまり活動的ではなかった。

Sakura was Haruto's close friend and always worried about him, though she wasn't very active herself.

ある夕方、はるとはさくらに相談することに決めた。

One evening, Haruto decided to consult with Sakura.

「さくら、僕、劇に出たいんだけど、どうしよう...」と声をかけた。

"I want to be in the play, but what should I do...?" he asked.

「うん。恥ずかしいよね。でも、あなたならできるよ」とさくらは優しく応えた。

"Yeah, it's embarrassing, right? But you can do it," Sakura replied gently.

その次の日、ゆきははるとに近づいてきた。

The next day, Yuki approached Haruto.

「聞いたよ！劇に興味あるって？やってみなよ！きっと楽しいよ！」

"I heard! You’re interested in the play? Go for it! It'll be fun!"

彼女の明るいことばに、はるとは少し勇気をもらった。

Her bright words gave Haruto a little courage.

ついに、オーディションの日が来た。

Finally, the day of the audition arrived.

はるとは緊張して手が震えた。

Haruto was so nervous his hands were shaking.

最初は言葉がうまく出てこなかったが、ゆきが観客席から微笑んで応援のジェスチャーをすると、落ち着きを取り戻し、いっそう大きな声ではっきりとセリフを言った。

At first, he couldn't get his words out properly, but when Yuki smiled and made encouraging gestures from the audience, he regained his composure and spoke his lines loudly and clearly.

観客は驚き、拍手を送った。

The audience was surprised and applauded.

結果発表の日、はるとは劇の主要な役を得た。

On the day of the results announcement, Haruto got a major role in the play.

彼は自分を信じたことで、仲間たちや自分に新たな自信を持つことができた。

By believing in himself, he was able to gain new confidence in his peers and in himself.

はるとの心は、どこまでも澄んだ青い空のように晴れやかだった。

Haruto's heart was as clear and bright as a blue sky stretching endlessly.

この経験を通して、はるとは自分の殻を破り、よりオープンで自信に満ちた新しい自分を見つけていった。

Through this experience, Haruto broke out of his shell and found a new, more open, and confident self.

彼はさくらと並んで並木道を歩きながら、これからの文化祭がとても楽しみになった。

As he walked down the tree-lined path alongside Sakura, he became very excited about the upcoming bunkasai.
