秋の香りが漂う新宿の裏通りに、静かなカフェがあった。

ハルトとユキは、そのカフェの一角に座っていた。

Haru and Yuki were seated in one corner of the café.

ハルトは少し緊張していた。

Yuki lightly shrugged her shoulders, "Anything is fine. But Haru, you're ordering, right?"

ハルトは頷き、カウンターへ向かった。

Haru nodded and headed to the counter.

彼は心の中で何度も注文を練習した。

He practiced the order in his mind several times.

そして、英語で複雑なコーヒーの注文を試みることに決めた。

Then he decided to attempt a complicated coffee order in English.

「エクスキューズ ミー、ワン カプ オブ、ウーム…ダブル ショット…フラッペ？」とぎこちない英語で話しかけた。

"Excuse me, one cup of, umm... double shot... frappe?" he said in awkward English.

店員は少し戸惑い、にこっと微笑んで「もちろんです、少々お待ちください」と答えた。

The staff looked a bit puzzled but smiled and replied, "Of course, please wait a moment."

数分後、彼の前に差し出されたのは、氷がたっぷり入った色とりどりのクリームとシロップがかかったトールグラスだった。

A few minutes later, a tall glass filled with ice, colorful cream, and syrup was placed in front of him.

ハルトは焦った。「これ、違う…」。

Haru panicked. "This isn't right...".

もう一度、店員に伝えようとしたが、言葉が出てこない。

He tried to tell the staff again, but the words wouldn't come out.

ユキはそれを見て微笑みながら、他のお客さん達と一緒にその光景を楽しんでいた。

「ハルト、本当に面白いね！」と声を上げた。

"Haru, you're really funny!" she exclaimed.

最後に店員が彼に渡したのは、彼が本当に頼みたかったエスプレッソだと思えないものだった。

What the staff handed him in the end wasn't the espresso he truly wanted.

しかし、ユキはそれを見て大笑いし、ハルトの顔にいたずらっぽい笑顔を向けた。

However, Yuki laughed heartily at the sight and gave Haru a mischievous grin.

「いいの、ハルト。君のその努力と、勇気を見ているのが楽しいから。」ユキは言った。

"It's okay, Haru. Watching your efforts and courage is what's enjoyable," Yuki said.

互いに顔を見合わせて、笑い合った。

They exchanged glances and laughed together.

彼らは結局、クリームたっぷりの謎の飲み物を二人でシェアし、そのカフェの雰囲気に溶け込んだ。
