猛暑の夏の午後、賑やかな街の雑踏を避けて、弘（Hiroshi）、由美（Yumi）、和樹（Kazuki）の三人は新宿御苑に向かっていた。

On a scorching summer afternoon, to escape the bustling crowds of the lively city, Hiroshi, Yumi, and Kazuki were heading to Shinjuku Gyoen.

緑豊かな庭園は、都会の喧騒からの逃避にぴったりの場所だ。

The lush garden was the perfect place to escape from the city's noise.

今日は七夕祭りだ。

Today was the Tanabata festival.

園内の竹には色とりどりの短冊が風にそよぐ。

Colorful wish strips fluttered in the wind on the bamboo within the garden.

弘はドキドキしていた。

Hiroshi was feeling nervous.

今日、由美に自分の気持ちを伝えるつもりだった。

He planned to confess his feelings to Yumi today.

友達の間に誤解が広がるのを恐れていたが、もう隠しきれなかった。

Though he feared misunderstandings spreading among their friends, he couldn't hide his feelings any longer.

ポケットには彼が書いた手紙がある。

In his pocket was a letter he had written.

いよいよ決心したが、その手紙を紛失したことに気づく。

He finally made up his mind, only to realize he had lost the letter.

由美は笑顔を見せながらも、心の中で違和感を感じていた。

Although Yumi was smiling, she felt a sense of unease inside.

最近、弘の視線に気付いていた。けれども、何もかもが曖昧だった。

Recently, she had noticed Hiroshi's gaze, but everything was unclear.

彼女の頭の中を混乱させていたのは、和樹への微かな想いでもあった。

Adding to her confusion were her faint feelings for Kazuki.

一方、和樹は青々とした芝生の上でのんびりとした気分だった。

Meanwhile, Kazuki felt relaxed lying on the lush green grass.

弘と由美の間の微妙な空気に気づかず、二人の友人たちと一緒にいることを純粋に楽しんでいた。

そのころ、弘は由美を園内の静かな場所に誘った。

At that moment, Hiroshi invited Yumi to a quiet spot within the garden.

背後に広がる花々と祭りの装飾が彼を優しく見守っている。

「由美、話があるんだ」と、弘はゆっくりと口を開いた。

"Yumi, I need to talk to you," Hiroshi said slowly, opening his mouth.

同時に、和樹が地面に落ちている紙に気づいた。

Simultaneously, Kazuki noticed a piece of paper on the ground.

それは弘の手紙だった。

It was Hiroshi's letter.

手に取り、軽く広げた和樹は、その内容を知り、驚いた。

Picking it up and gently unfolding it, Kazuki was surprised when he read its contents.

「なんだ、こんなところに」とつぶやきながら、急いで二人の元へ向かった。

Muttering to himself, "Look at what I found here," he hurried towards the two.

「弘、これ」と和樹は手紙を渡した。

"Hiroshi, this," Kazuki said, handing over the letter.

「ありがとう、和樹」。弘は緊張しながらも、深呼吸をして手紙を開いた。

"Thank you, Kazuki." Feeling tense but taking a deep breath, Hiroshi opened the letter.

「由美、この手紙を聞いてほしいんだ」。そして、彼は手紙を声に出して読み始めた。

"Yumi, I want you to hear this letter." And with that, he began to read it aloud.

由美は真剣に耳を傾け、次第にそれが心に響いていった。

Yumi listened intently, and gradually the words resonated with her heart.

そして、彼女は微笑んで答えた。

She smiled and responded, "Thank you for speaking honestly.

「正直に話してくれてありがとう。私も、自分の気持ちがずっと複雑だったの」。

My feelings have been so complicated, too."

弘は嬉しさでいっぱいになった。

Hiroshi was filled with joy.

和樹は目を丸くしたが、少し笑いながら、二人の友人を祝福した。

Kazuki was wide-eyed but laughed a little, congratulating his two friends.

こうして、新宿御苑の夏の日が終わる頃には、三人はお互いの気持ちを正直に話すことの大切さを知り、新たな絆を結んだのだった。
