春の日差しがやわらかく、京都の隠れたお寺は桜の花で彩られていました。

こいのぼりが風に揺れ、空には色とりどりの旗が舞います。

Koinobori fluttered in the wind, and colorful flags danced in the sky.

今年もまた、こどもの日がやってきました。

Once again, Children's Day had arrived.

春の訪れに合わせて、たくさんの家族が訪れますが、その準備に追われているのは、寺の世話係である晴斗（はると）です。

In sync with the arrival of spring, many families came to visit, but it was Haruto, the temple caretaker, who was busy with preparations.

晴斗はいつもお寺を大切にしています。

Haruto always cherished the temple.

しかし、こどもの日は特に重要な日です。なぜなら、子どもたちが元気に成長することを願う日だからです。

However, Children's Day was a particularly important day, as it was a day to wish for the healthy growth of children.

彼の心には、いつも家族のいない寂しさがありました。

In his heart, there was always a loneliness from not having a family.

それでも、晴斗は自分の役割に誇りを持ち、一生懸命に仕事に打ち込んでいました。

Nevertheless, Haruto took pride in his role and devoted himself earnestly to his work.

ある日、春の風にふかれて、晴斗は境内の掃除をしていました。

One day, swept by the spring breeze, Haruto was cleaning the temple grounds.

音もなく、静寂の中で彼は考えました。「今日はたくさんの子どもたちが来る。彼らにこのお寺の素晴らしさを伝えたいなあ」と。

In the silence, without a sound, he pondered, "Today, many children will come. I want to convey the wonders of this temple to them."

そこで、晴斗は特別な工夫をしました。

So, Haruto made a special effort.

お寺の歴史を書いた小さな看板を作り、来訪者が自由に読めるようにしました。

He created small signboards detailing the temple's history, allowing visitors to read them freely.

こどもの日がやってくると、お寺は家族連れでにぎわいました。

When Children's Day came, the temple was bustling with families.

子どもたちの笑い声に、晴斗の心も明るくなります。

The laughter of the children brightened Haruto's heart.

その中に、元気いっぱいの女の子、愛子（あいこ）がいました。

Among them was an energetic girl, Aiko.

「おじさん、このお寺ってなんで隠れてるの？」と、愛子が澄んだ目で晴斗に尋ねました。

"Why is this temple hidden?" Aiko asked Haruto with clear eyes.

晴斗はふと微笑みました。

Haruto smiled softly.

「このお寺には昔からの伝説があるんだよ。聞きたいかい？」と、彼は優しく愛子に話しかけます。

"There's an old legend about this temple. Would you like to hear it?" he gently asked Aiko.

そして、寺の歴史や伝説をゆっくりと語り始めました。

Then, he began to slowly narrate the temple's history and legends.

愛子は夢中になって聞き、まわりの家族も足を止めて耳を傾けていました。

Aiko listened intently, and the surrounding families paused to listen as well.

晴斗は、これこそが自分の使命だと感じます。

Haruto felt that this was his true mission.

彼の言葉は、ただの話ではなく、寺を訪れるすべての人たちと心を通わせる大切な時間でした。

His words were not just stories; they were precious moments that connected him with everyone visiting the temple.

その日の夕方、太陽が西に沈むと、晴斗は少しだけ疲れてベンチに座りました。

That evening, as the sun set in the west, Haruto sat down on a bench, feeling a bit tired.

しかし、心の中はとても温かかった。

However, his heart was very warm.

「家族とは、血のつながりだけがすべてではない。ここにいる皆と、そして愛子のような子どもたちと繋がることも大切」と、彼はしみじみと感じました。

"Family is not just about blood ties. Connecting with everyone here and with children like Aiko is also important," he deeply felt.

お寺の中で、晴斗は新しい家族を見つけたように思えました。

In the temple, Haruto seemed to have found a new family.

彼はもう孤独ではありませんでした。

He was no longer alone.

この京都の隠れた寺で、晴斗は新しい絆と共に生きていくと心に誓いました。
