春の夜、京都大学の寮では、静けさの中に微かに風が吹き、窓から桜の花びらが舞い込んでいた。

On a spring night, at the Kyoto University dormitory, a gentle breeze blew amidst the silence, with cherry blossom petals fluttering in through the window.

ハルキは部屋のデスクに座り、真剣な表情で教科書を見つめていた。

Haruki sat at his desk, staring intently at his textbook.

部屋は勉強道具でごちゃごちゃしている。

The room was cluttered with study materials.

狭い部屋を温かく照らす机のランプが、遅い時間の訪れを優しく示していた。

The desk lamp warmly illuminated the cramped room, gently indicating the arrival of late hours.

ハルキは勉強に集中しようとしたが、ふと心は別の方向へと向かっていた。

Haruki tried to concentrate on his studies, but his mind wandered in another direction.

彼はユミのことを思い浮かべた。

He thought about Yumi.

彼女は明るく、楽しい性格で、勉強グループの大切な存在だった。

She was bright, cheerful, and an important part of their study group.

ハルキは（ひそかに）彼女に憧れていたが、気持ちを伝える勇気がなかった。

Haruki secretly admired her but didn’t have the courage to express his feelings.

しかし、試験が近づいている今、気持ちを整理しなければならなかった。

ユミを一対一の勉強会に誘おう。

ハルキは深呼吸して、彼女にメッセージを送った。「今日の夜、一緒に勉強しない？」

ユミはすぐに「いいよ！」と答えた。緊張と同時にわくわくする気持ちがハルキを襲った。

Yumi quickly replied, "Sure!" Excitement and nerves surged through Haruki.

夜が更け、ユミがハルキの部屋にやって来た。

As night deepened, Yumi arrived at Haruki’s room.

二人は並んで座り、テキストを広げた。

They sat side by side, spreading out their textbooks.

楽しい会話と真剣な勉強が交互に続いた。

しかし、突然、部屋が真っ暗になった。停電だった。

But suddenly, the room went pitch dark. It was a blackout.

「大丈夫？」とユミが心配そうに言った。

"Are you okay?" Yumi asked worriedly.

「うん、大丈夫だよ。驚いただけ…」ハルキは電気の戻りを待ちながら答えた。

"Yeah, I'm okay. Just surprised…" Haruki replied while waiting for the power to return.

暗闇の中、勇気を振り絞る時が来た。

In the dark, it was time to muster his courage.

「実は、君に伝えたいことがあるんだ。」ハルキは少し緊張して言った。

"Actually, I have something I want to tell you," Haruki said, a bit nervously.

「何？」ユミは興味津々に近づいた。

"What is it?" Yumi leaned in, intrigued.

「僕は君が好きです。ずっと言いたかったけど、勇気が出なくて。」

"I like you. I've wanted to say it for a long time, but I didn't have the courage."

部屋が一瞬静まり返るが、すぐにユミの優しい声が聞こえた。

The room fell silent for a moment, but then Yumi's gentle voice broke through.

「私も、ハルキのことが好きだよ。」

"I like you too, Haruki."

暗闇の中でも、ハルキの心には光が差し込んだ。

Even in the darkness, light shone into Haruki's heart.

そして、電気が戻り、部屋は再び明るくなった。

Then, the electricity returned, and the room brightened once more.

二人は微笑みあって、試験が終わったらデートに行くことを約束した。

They smiled at each other and promised to go on a date after the exams.

その時、ハルキはわかった。正直に気持ちを伝えることは、新しい道を開くことができるのだと。

彼はもっと自信を持ち、ユミと一緒に頑張る決意をした。
