春の小さな町にある、静かな投票所でのこと。

In a quiet polling station located in a small springtime town, something was happening.

今日は投票の日。

Today was election day.

近くの桜祭りが開かれていて、町中に甘い香りが漂っていました。

The nearby Sakura Festival was taking place, and the town was filled with a sweet fragrance.

弘人は、投票所に来ました。

Hiroto came to the polling station.

彼は町の行事に参加するのが大好きです。

He loves participating in town events.

特に投票は大切だと考えています。

でも、今日はなぜか違う雰囲気を感じました。

However, today he felt a different atmosphere.

桜祭りのスナックの甘い香りが彼の鼻に届きました。

The sweet scent of festival snacks reached his nose.

「ああ、おいしそうな匂いだなあ。」弘人は思いました。

"Oh, that smells so delicious," thought Hiroto.

彼の足は、香りのする方向に自然と向かいました。

彼は投票所だということを忘れて、そのまま足を運びました。

中は春の優しい飾りつけがされていました。

Inside, there were gentle spring decorations.

でも弘人は、その飾りつけを見て、祭りの飾りだと思ってしまいました。

But Hiroto mistook these decorations for festival ones.

「スナックの棚はどこだろう？」彼はキョロキョロと見渡しました。

"Where could the snack shelves be?" he wondered, looking around.

そのとき、友達の大地と美香がやってきました。

At that moment, his friends Daichi and Mika arrived.

「弘人くん、どうしたの？」と大地が言いました。

"Hiroto-kun, what's up?" asked Daichi.

「スナックを探してるの？」と美香も笑いました。

"Are you looking for snacks too?" Mika laughed.

「ああ！ごめん、ここは投票所だった。」弘人は頭をかいて笑いました。

"Oh! Sorry, this is the polling station," Hiroto laughed, scratching his head.

自分の間違いに気づきました。

He realized his mistake.

「まず投票しなくちゃね。」

"I should vote first."

弘人は投票を終えました。そして、外に出ると桜祭りに向かいました。

Hiroto finished voting and then headed to the Sakura Festival outside.

桜の花びらが風に吹かれて舞い上がっています。

Cherry blossom petals were being blown into the air by the wind.

おいしいスナックも楽しみながら、彼は心が晴れ晴れしました。

「投票を済ませてからスナックを楽しめて本当に良かった。」彼は自分に微笑みました。
