春の風が優しく桜の花びらを舞わせている。

The spring breeze was gently setting the sakura petals dancing.

新宿警察署は多忙で、電話が鳴り続け、人々が行き交っている。

The Shinjuku police station was busy, with phones ringing endlessly and people coming and going.

その中に、心配そうな顔の青年がいた。

Among them was a young man with a worried expression.

ハルトという名のその青年は、妹、アイコを探しに来ていた。

This young man, named Haruto, had come to search for his sister, Aiko.

「アイコが桜祭りに行った後、まだ帰ってきません。」ハルトは説明した。

"Aiko hasn't returned after going to the sakura festival," Haruto explained.

彼の心は重く、アイコと一緒に行かなかったことを後悔していた。

His heart was heavy, regretting not having gone with Aiko.

警察官のサトシは深呼吸をして、ハルトを見た。

Officer Satoshi took a deep breath and looked at Haruto.

「私たちも手がいっぱいですが、精一杯手伝います。」

"We have our hands full too, but we'll do our best to help."

ハルトの手には、アイコが残した手がかりはほんのわずかだった。

In Haruto's hand were only a few clues left by Aiko.

アイコは先週、桜の写真を送ってきた。

She had sent a photo of the sakura last week.

でも、それだけでは行方を特定するには足りない。

However, that alone wasn't enough to trace her whereabouts.

警察も祭りの混雑で対応が追い付かない。

The police were also overwhelmed by the festival's crowds.

それでもハルトは決意を固めた。

Despite this, Haruto was determined.

「私は自分でアイコの足取りを追います。」

"I will trace Aiko's steps on my own."

その決意を胸に、ハルトはアイコが訪れた場所を一つずつ訪ねて歩いた。

With that resolve, Haruto visited the places Aiko had gone one by one.

花見の広場を巡り、屋台を見て回り、彼女が好きな食べ物を探した。

He wandered through the hanami grounds, examined the stalls, and searched for her favorite food.

そして、桜の木の下、地面に埋もれた小さなメモを見つけた。

Then, beneath a cherry tree, he found a small note buried in the ground.

メモには、短いメッセージが書かれていた。「大丈夫。心配しないで。私は選びたい。」

The note had a short message written on it: "I'm okay. Don't worry. I want to choose."

ハルトは驚きつつも安堵を感じた。

Haruto felt both surprised and relieved.

アイコは故意にいなくなったのかもしれない。

It seemed Aiko might have disappeared intentionally.

彼はすぐにサトシに知らせた。

He immediately informed Satoshi.

「サトシさん、アイコのことをもっと調べたいです。」

"Satoshi-san, I want to investigate more about Aiko."

サトシはうなずき、ハルトと共にメモの指示をもとにして可能性のある場所を探し始めた。

Satoshi nodded and began searching potential locations based on the note's hints with Haruto.

しばらくして、小さなカフェでようやくアイコを見つけた。

After a while, they finally found Aiko at a small café.

彼女は驚いた表情を浮かべ、そして笑った。

She wore a surprised expression, then smiled.

「お兄ちゃん、心配かけてごめん。」

"Big brother, I'm sorry for making you worry."

「アイコ…どうして？何があったの？」

"Aiko... why? What happened?"

アイコは深呼吸をし、説明した。「家のプレッシャーが大きすぎて…ちょっと考えたくて。」

Aiko took a deep breath and explained, "The pressure at home was too much... I just wanted to think for a bit."

ハルトはアイコの手を握りしめた。

Haruto tightly grasped Aiko's hand.

「ごめん、僕は気づかなかった。でも、これからはもっと話し合おう。」

"I'm sorry, I didn't notice. But let's talk more from now on."

アイコは頷いた。

Aiko nodded.

警察のサトシも横で微笑んでいた。

Officer Satoshi also smiled gently beside them.

「安心しました。これからは大事な話し合いですね。」

"I'm relieved. It's important to have these conversations from now on."

ハルトとアイコは、桜の花びらのように穏やかな心で、また一歩を踏み出すことを誓った。

Haruto and Aiko vowed to take another step forward with hearts as calm as the sakura petals.
