運河のそばには雪が積もっています。

Snow is piled up beside the canal.

そこに春、桜、達也という三人の人物がいます。

There, three people named Haru, Sakura, and Tatsuya are present.

話はここから始まります。

春は芸術史家であり、細部にまで目が届く人です。

Haru is an art historian, someone who notices even the smallest details.

彼は昔の師匠から譲り受けたアンティークの宝石箱を探しています。

He is looking for an antique jewelry box that he inherited from his former mentor.

それは小樽の運河に運ばれてきた出荷で失われたと信じられています。

It is believed that the box was lost in a shipment brought to the Otaru Canal.

春はその宝石箱を非常に大切にしていました。

Haru cherished this jewelry box very much.

春の妹、桜は冒険好きなフリーランスのジャーナリストです。

Haru's sister, Sakura, is an adventurous freelance journalist.

彼女はいつも新しい物語を探しています。

She is always searching for new stories.

兄の助けをするために小樽に来ました。

She came to Otaru to help her brother.

二人は達也という骨董品のディーラーを見つけました。彼は夜にこっそりと運河を訪れる謎めいた人物です。

The two found Tatsuya, an antique dealer who is a mysterious figure visiting the canal secretly at night.

ある寒い夜、春と桜は達也を訪ねました。

One cold night, Haru and Sakura visited Tatsuya.

しかし、すごい雪が降り、証拠は雪の下に隠れてしまいました。

However, a heavy snowfall concealed evidence beneath the snow.

達也は何かを知っているようですが、情報をあまり話しません。

Though Tatsuya seemed to know something, he provided little information.

春は自分の調査を続け、ついに夜遅くに達也を追いかけました。

Haru continued his investigation and eventually followed Tatsuya late into the night.

その夜、祭りの花火が空を飾っています。

That night, festival fireworks adorned the sky.

運河の近く、春と桜は達也が雪を掘り返しているのを見つけました。

Near the canal, Haru and Sakura found Tatsuya digging through the snow.

彼は宝石箱を見つけたのです。

He had found the jewelry box.

春は達也に宝石箱の感情的な価値を伝え、返してくれるように説得しました。

Haru conveyed the emotional value of the jewelry box to Tatsuya, persuading him to return it.

達也はしばらく考え、ついに同意しました。

この宝石箱の歴史を一緒に展示することにしました。
