ユキは冬の朝、熱帯植物園に向かいました。

Yuki went to the tropical botanical garden on a winter morning.

かぜが冷たかったですが、植物園の中はあたたかくて、しめっていました。

The wind was cold, but inside the garden, it was warm and humid.

ユキはボランティアで、ちょっとドジですが、いつも笑顔です。

Yuki was a volunteer, a bit clumsy, but always smiling.

この日は特別な日でした。

This was a special day.

ユキは新しい蝶々の展示をケンジに見せたかったのです。

Yuki wanted to show the new butterfly exhibit to Kenji.

ケンジは同じボランティアで、ユキのひみつの思い人でした。

Kenji was also a volunteer and Yuki's secret crush.

植物園の中には、青々とした植物や色とりどりの花が咲いていました。

Inside the botanical garden, green plants and colorful flowers were blooming.

その中に温室（おんしつ）がありました。

Among them, there was a greenhouse.

蝶々の展示は温室の中にあり、ケンジはその展示をまだ見ていませんでした。

The butterfly exhibit was inside the greenhouse, and Kenji hadn't seen it yet.

ユキはケンジをびっくりさせたかったのです。

Yuki wanted to surprise him.

ところが、ユキは、間違えて別のドアを開けてしまいました。

However, Yuki accidentally opened the wrong door.

すると、蝶々たちは空へ飛び出しました。

Then, the butterflies flew out into the sky.

ユキはあわてましたが、すぐに友だちのハナに助けを求めました。

Yuki panicked but quickly sought help from her friend Hana.

ハナもボランティアで、元気いっぱいです。

Hana was also a volunteer and full of energy.

「一本！」ユキとハナはネットを手に取り、蝶々たちを追いかけ始めました。

Got one! Yuki and Hana grabbed nets and started chasing after the butterflies.

温室の中で、ユキとハナは笑いながら走りまわりました。

They ran around the greenhouse, laughing.

蝶々はふわふわと飛び回っていました。

The butterflies fluttered around them.

しばらくすると、ケンジが通りかかりました。

After a while, Kenji happened to pass by.

彼も状況を見て、すぐに手伝ってくれることになりました。

Seeing the situation, he immediately offered to help.

三人で一緒に蝶々を捕まえるのは、とても楽しい時間でした。

Catching the butterflies together was a very fun time for the three of them.

かれこれ一時間がたち、三人はほっと一息ついていました。

After about an hour had passed, the three of them took a breather.

ほとんどの蝶々は無事に戻りました。

Most of the butterflies had returned safely.

ケンジはユキに言いました。「ユキちゃんのおかげで、すぐに対応できたよ。ありがとう。」

Kenji said to Yuki, "Thanks to you, Yuki, we were able to handle it right away. Thank you."

ユキの心は、蝶々よりも早く飛び跳ねました。

Yuki's heart fluttered faster than the butterflies.

「また一緒にがんばろうね」と、ユキは笑いました。

"Let's work hard together again," she said with a smile.

彼女は自分が間違っても大丈夫だと思いました。

She realized it was okay to make mistakes as long as she stayed true to herself.

静かに降り始めた雪の中、ユキの心は少しあたたかくなったのでした。

As the snow began to fall quietly, Yuki's heart felt a little warmer.
