道にはひび割れが走り、そこから草が顔を出していた。

Cracks ran through the roads, with grass poking through.

ユキオは妹のハナを連れて、その廃墟の中を歩いていた。

Yukio walked through the ruins, accompanied by his younger sister Hana.

ユキオは生き残るために何でもする決意があり、一方、ハナは新しい未来を信じていた。

Yukio was determined to do whatever it took to survive, while Hana believed in a new future.

彼らは新しい安全な居場所を求めていた。

They were searching for a new safe haven.

「兄ちゃん、次はどっちに行くの？」ハナが少し疲れた声で聞いた。

"Elder brother, where do we go next?" Hana asked in a slightly tired voice.

「こっちの道にする」とユキオは答えた。

"We'll take this path," Yukio replied.

その道はあまり人が通らないが危ない可能性があった。

It was a path less traveled by people, but it might be dangerous.

しかし、安全のためには他の生存者に見つからない方が良い。

However, for their safety, it was better to not be found by other survivors.

道中、二人は不安な音を聞いた。

On their journey, the two heard unsettling noises.

振り返ると、瓦礫の中から人々が現れた。

When they turned around, people emerged from among the rubble.

彼らは武器を持ち、近づいてきた。

They were holding weapons and approached them.

「困ったな」とユキオは心の中でつぶやき、しっかりとハナの手を握った。

"This is trouble," Yukio muttered in his heart, gripping Hana's hand tightly.

グループのリーダーが彼らに近づき、「ここを通るのか？」と威嚇するように言った。

The leader of the group approached them and asked intimidatingly, "Are you passing through here?"

ユキオは大きく息を吸い、「はい、しかし争う気はありません」と正直に伝えた。

Yukio took a deep breath and replied honestly, "Yes, but we have no intention of causing trouble."

リーダーはしばらく考える。

The leader pondered for a moment.

その間、ユキオは信頼と慎重さの間で揺れ動いた。

During that time, Yukio wavered between trust and caution.

やがて、「物資を少し置いていけば、通してやる」とリーダーが言った。

Eventually, the leader said, "Leave some supplies behind and we'll let you pass."

ユキオは迷ったが、ハナの未来を考え決断した。

Yukio hesitated, but considering Hana's future, he made a decision.

持っている食料を少し残し、差し出した。

He left some of their food behind and offered it.

グループのリーダーはうなずき、道を譲る。

The group leader nodded and stepped aside to let them pass.

ユキオはホッと胸をなでおろしつつも、まだ気を緩めなかった。

Yukio felt a sense of relief, yet remained vigilant.

「ありがとう」と静かに言い、ハナと共に道を先に進んだ。

"Thank you," he said quietly, and continued down the path with Hana.

その時、ユキオは他の人々と信頼を築く重要さに気付いた。

Although he had to be cautious, a glimmer of hope appeared.
