「ねえ、今日は大事な話し合いだから」とユキはふと言った。

"Hey, today's discussion is important," Yuki suddenly remarked.

彼女は家族のために実用的な視点を持つ、人一倍責任感の強い姉である。

She was a sister with a practical perspective for the sake of the family, possessing a stronger sense of responsibility than most.

「家を売るって、やっぱり賛成できないんだ」とヒロシが言い返す。

"I just can't agree to selling the house," Hiroshi retorted.

彼は感情に正直で、家を感情的に大切にしてきた。

He was honest with his emotions, emotionally treasuring the house.

「でも、お父さんとお母さんが決めたことだし、私たちも賛成するべきじゃない？」とユキは、落ち着いた声で諭す。

"But it's what Mom and Dad decided, so shouldn't we agree too?" Yuki reasoned in a calm voice.

「将来のためにも、現実的な選択じゃないかな。」

"Isn't it a realistic choice for the future?"

列が前に進むにつれて、ヒロシは考え込むように口を閉じた。

As the line moved forward, Hiroshi closed his mouth thoughtfully.

「わかってる。でも、思い出がたくさん詰まってる家だよ」と彼は静かに言った。

"I understand, but it's a house full of memories," he said quietly.

ユキもまた、家を渡すことに躊躇がないわけではなかった。

Yuki also wasn't entirely without hesitation about handing over the house.

「実は、私もあの家を恋しく思うことがある。

"Actually, I do feel nostalgic about that house.

ねえ、覚えてる？

Hey, do you remember?

あの庭でピクニックしたこと、桜の木の下で。”と彼女は目を細め、懐かしい記憶を話し出した。

Those picnics in the garden, under the sakura tree," she said, narrowing her eyes as she began to recount the fond memories.

ヒロシは驚いた。

Hiroshi was surprised.

「ユキがそんなこと言うなんて…」彼は姉の話に耳を傾け、共感していることを感じた。

"I didn't expect you to say that..." He listened to his sister's story, feeling a sense of empathy.

「でも、それでも？」

"But even so?"

それでも、ユキは「私も家のことを忘れることはできないけど、今が家族全体にとって大事な時期だから、もう少し考えたほうがいいと思う」と彼を優しく説得する。

Even so, Yuki gently persuaded him, "I can't forget about the house either, but since it's an important time for the whole family now, I think we should consider it a bit more."

ヒロシは黙りこくる。

Hiroshi fell silent.

そして、しばらく考えた後、頷いた。

After thinking for some time, he nodded.

「お姉ちゃんがそう言うなら、もう少し考える時間を持とう」と言い、自分の感情と思慮を同時に抱くことを初めて認識した。

"If you say so, onee-chan, let's take more time to think," he said, realizing for the first time the simultaneous embrace of his emotions and thoughtfulness.

列はさらに前進し、投票所の入り口が見えてきた。

The line moved further forward, and the entrance to the polling station came into view.

ユキは安堵の笑みを浮かべ、「投票が終わったら、両親とじっくり話そう」と提案した。

Yuki let out a relieved smile and proposed, "Once the voting is over, let's have a thorough conversation with our parents."

ヒロシもまた微笑み返す。

Hiroshi also returned her smile.

「わかった。

"Got it.

思い出と現実のバランスを取らなきゃね。」

We have to balance memories and reality, right?"

二人は新たな決意を胸に、前へと歩み出した。
