Era una calda giornata di giugno e Marco aveva deciso di trascorrere la sua giornata nella bellissima Piazza Navona.

It was a hot June day and Marco had decided to spend his day in the beautiful Piazza Navona.

Era un luogo molto frequentato e la gente vi affollava in ogni angolo.

It was a very busy place and people crowded into every corner.

All'improvviso, mentre Marco era intento a gustare un delizioso gelato alla crema, inciampò su una pietra sporgente e, con un urlo, cadde rovinosamente a terra, facendo volare in aria il suo gelato.

Suddenly, while Marco was busy enjoying a delicious ice cream, he tripped over a protruding stone and, with a scream, fell to the ground, sending his ice cream flying into the air.

Purtroppo per lui, il gelato finì addosso a un piccione che stava passeggiando innocuamente sul marciapiede.

Unfortunately for him, the ice cream landed on a pigeon that was strolling harmlessly on the sidewalk.

Il piccione, spaventato dal gelato caldo che gli era caduto addosso, cominciò a sbattere le ali nervosamente.

The pigeon, frightened by the hot ice cream that had fallen on it, began to flap its wings nervously.

In pochi istanti, uno stormo di piccioni furiosi si abbatté su Marco, attaccandolo con i loro becchi e le loro ali.

Within moments, a flock of furious pigeons swooped down on Marco, attacking him with their beaks and wings.

Marco, preso dal panico, cercò in tutti i modi di difendersi dallo stormo inferocito, ma non sapeva come fare.

Marco, seized by panic, tried in every way to defend himself from the enraged flock, but he didn't know how to do it.

All'improvviso, lo sguardo di Marco si posò sulla Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, situata proprio al centro della piazza.

Suddenly, Marco's gaze rested on the Fountain of the Four Rivers, located right in the center of the square.

Con un balzo, si arrampicò sulla statua e, da lì, cercò di scacciare gli uccelli con un bastone che aveva trovato per terra.

With one leap, he climbed onto the statue and, from there, tried to drive away the birds with a stick he had found on the ground.

Dopo alcuni minuti di frenetica lotta contro gli uccelli, Marco riuscì finalmente a mettere in fuga i piccioni e, sollevato, scese dalla statua per godersi finalmente una pausa sotto un grande ombrellone.

After a few minutes of frantic fight against the birds, Marco finally managed to scare away the pigeons and, relieved, got down from the statue to finally enjoy a break under a large umbrella.

Sfogliando un giornale locale, Marco scoprì che i piccioni erano tutelati dalla legge e che toccare uno di loro poteva comportare gravi conseguenze.

Leafing through a local newspaper, Marco discovered that pigeons were protected by law and that touching one of them could have serious consequences.

Ma non importava, al momento Marco aveva solo bisogno di rilassarsi e godersi la frescura dell'ombra.

But it didn't matter, at the moment Marco just needed to relax and enjoy the coolness of the shade.

Così il resto della sua giornata trascorse tranquillamente, tra una passeggiata e un gelato al limone, convinto che quello che gli era successo fosse solo un brutto incidente di percorso.

So the rest of his day passed quietly, between a walk and a lemon ice cream, convinced that what had happened to him was just a bad accident along the way.

E, alla fine, Marco riuscì a godersi la sua bellissima giornata nella piazza più famosa di Roma, senza più farsi assalire dagli uccelli.

And, in the end, Marco was able to enjoy his beautiful day in the most famous square in Rome, without being attacked by birds anymore.
