Summer had already arrived, and the heat was unbearable.
Despite the sun shining outside, Dario and Ivana stepped into the cool underground bunker.
It was dark, illuminated only by a flickering neon light in the corner.
Police su bile pune konzervirane hrane, boca vode, lijekova i drugih potrepština.
The shelves were filled with canned food, bottles of water, medicines, and other supplies.
Dario organized everything carefully, feeling comfortable among the concrete walls.
Ivana je uzdahnula, promatrajući Daria kako pregledava svoj popis.
Ivana sighed, observing Dario as he reviewed his list.
It was an endless list of things that, in his opinion, they needed.
"Dario, are you sure all of this is really necessary?" she asked, gently placing her hand on his shoulder.
“Moramo biti pripremljeni, Ivana.
“We have to be prepared, Ivana.
You always have to be ready for the worst,” he replied, without lifting his gaze from the paper.
Nije mogao razumjeti kako ona ostaje tako opuštena.
He couldn’t understand how she remained so relaxed.
For him, every little detail was part of a bigger picture of security.
Ivana se nasmiješila, pokušavajući ublažiti njegovu ozbiljnost.
Ivana smiled, trying to soften his seriousness.
“Ali što ako nam nikad ne zatreba?
“But what if we never need it?
Možda bismo trebali uživati u sadašnjosti.”
Maybe we should enjoy the present.”
Dario sighed, stepping away from his plans for a moment.
“I know, but don’t you feel safer knowing that we have everything we might need?”
The two of them continued to examine the shelves, and then they came across an expensive water filtration device.
Dario stopped and began studying the technical specifications, seriously considering whether to take it.
Ivana stood beside him, watching his face full of determination.
“Stvarno? Ovo je preskupo, Dario,” uzviknula je.
“Really? This is too expensive, Dario,” she exclaimed.
“We can’t spend all our money on things we might never use.”
They argued, their voices echoing in the cramped space of the bunker, but underneath, the tones were mild.
“Ti ne razumiješ.
“You don’t understand.
I just want to be prepared,” Dario exclaimed, while Ivana responded with words about the importance of current enjoyment and happiness.
Konačno, napetost je popustila.
Finally, the tension eased.
Ivana sighed, looked at him, and said, “Alright, I agree with some of your preparations if it makes you happier.
Ali i ti moraš prigrliti sadašnji trenutak.
But you also have to embrace the present moment.
Hajde, idemo van uživati u suncu.”
Come on, let’s go out and enjoy the sun.”
Dario paused, thought about her words, and realized that perhaps he had achieved some security, if not in the world, then at least in their relationship.
“U redu,” rekao je uz smiješak.
“Okay,” he said with a smile.
“Idemo.
“Let's go.
But only if you promise that we’ll come back and check the list tomorrow.”
They both laughed and headed towards the bunker exit.
Toplina ljetnog dana obavila ih je poput pokrivača, a sunčeve zrake užarile su im lice.
The warmth of the summer day enveloped them like a blanket, and the sun’s rays heated their faces.
Dario knew that tragedy might never come, but he also learned that small moments of joy, like this one, made all that preparation worthwhile.
Ivana, on the other hand, got a small respite to enjoy but with a stronger sense of security thanks to Dario's preparations.
Together they found a balance between caution and spontaneity.
