  • U dnu bijelog, snježnog dana u malom hrvatskom mjestu, Ana stoji ispred drafne mjesne zajednice.

At the bottom of a white, snowy day in a small Croatian village, Ana stands in front of the shabby community center.

  • Nije joj dobro, ali odlučna je.

She doesn't feel well, but she is determined.

  • Danas je dan izbora i ona mora glasati.

Today is election day, and she must vote.

  • To joj je dužnost i ona je ozbiljno shvaća.

It's her duty, and she takes it seriously.

A line of people waits patiently, all wrapped in winter coats, with mist rising from their breaths.

  • Ana je s Markom i Ivanom.

Ana is with Marko and Ivana.

Marko talks with Ivana about the candidates and their programs, while Ana remains silent, holding onto the cold wall.

  • Njezino srce tuče snažno, a tlo joj se blago njiše pod nogama.

Her heart beats strongly, and the ground sways slightly beneath her feet.

  • "Trebaš li sjesti?

    "Do you need to sit?"

  • " pita Ivana, primjećujući njen blijed lice.

asks Ivana, noticing her pale face.

  • "Ne, u redu je," odgovara Ana odlučno.

"No, it's okay," replies Ana determinedly.

  • "Blizu smo.

    "We're close."

But the line barely moves, and people are already feeling cold.

  • Kako minuta prolazi, Ana osjeća vrtoglavicu.

As the minutes pass, Ana feels dizzy.

She can't lean against the wall anymore without fear of falling.

  • Vid stvaraju mrlje.

    Her vision blurs.

She considers giving up, but something inside her won't let go.

  • Moram glasati, misli.

    I must vote, she thinks.

Just a little more... She is at the entrance, almost her turn, when the world starts to dim.

  • "Ana?

    "Ana?"

Ivana is worried when she sees her sway.

Ana collapses to the floor before Marko and Ivana can react.

  • Svi su priskočili u pomoć.

    Everyone rushes to help.

  • Srećom, Ivana je medicinska sestra.

    Fortunately, Ivana is a nurse.

  • Kleči kraj Ane, brzo provjerava puls i podiže joj noge da joj se vrati svijest.

She kneels beside Ana, quickly checks her pulse, and lifts her legs to restore consciousness.

  • "Ana, možeš li me čuti?

    "Ana, can you hear me?"

  • "Polako, Ana otvara oči.

    Slowly, Ana opens her eyes.

She is confused but soon realizes what happened.

"I need to vote," she says weakly, trying to get up, but Ivana gently stops her.

  • "Smiri se.

    "Calm down.

Let's get you to vote, and then we'll take you to the doctor," says Ivana with a smile, keeping an eye on Ana.

Inside the center, people move aside so Ana can vote quickly.

Her hand trembles as she marks the ballot, but her gaze remains resolute.

After dropping the ballot in the box, Ana's face shows relief.

On their way out, Marko and Ivana support Ana, who leans on them.

  • "Zahvalna sam vam.

    "I'm grateful to you.

I must think about myself and not just my duties," Ana sighs as they lead her outside.

  • Zima steže još jače oko njih, ali Ana, sada oslobođena tereta dužnosti, osjeća malo lakše u srcu.

The winter grips even tighter around them, but Ana, now relieved of her duty's burden, feels a bit lighter at heart.

She knew it was right to fulfill her civic duty, but she also learned a valuable lesson about the importance of self-care.

It's hard to take steps, but friends and determination keep her strong.
