Ivana je hodala školskim hodnikom, držeći svoj popis školskog pribora čvrsto u ruci.
Ivana was walking down the school hallway, holding her list of school supplies tightly in her hand.
It was the beginning of autumn and leaves rustled underfoot as the fresh breeze and scent of rain came through the open windows.
The hallway was full of students, some standing by their lockers, exchanging noisy greetings and talking about plans for the weekend.
Ivana je bila ambiciozna učenica.
Ivana was an ambitious student.
Uvijek je željela savršene ocjene.
She always wanted perfect grades.
No, osjećala se pomalo izgubljeno usred previše obaveza i očekivanja.
But she felt somewhat lost amidst too many obligations and expectations.
Danas je s Markom i Lukom otišla u školsku knjižaru.
Today she went with Marko and Luka to the school bookstore.
She needed to buy a new planner and notebooks for the upcoming exams.
"Jesi li vidjela koliko košta najnoviji rokovnik?
"Did you see how much the latest planner costs?"
" upita Marko dok su pregledavali police ispunjene svijetlim naslovnicama.
asked Marko as they were browsing the shelves filled with bright covers.
Stariji gospon iza pulta ljubazno ih je pozdravio.
The elderly man behind the counter greeted them kindly.
"Znam, sve je skupo," dodao je Luka koji je već pazario nekoliko osnovnih bilježnica.
"I know, everything's expensive," added Luka, who had already purchased several basic notebooks.
Ivana je zastala ispred police s najnovijim planerima.
Ivana paused in front of the shelf with the latest planners.
Imali su sve: tablice za organizaciju vremena, motivacijske poruke, ponekad čak i personalizirane olovke.
They had everything: time organization tables, motivational messages, sometimes even personalized pencils.
Osjećala je kako je privlače.
She felt drawn to them.
Obećavali su savršenu organizaciju i kontrolu.
They promised perfect organization and control.
Dok je razmišljala, začula je djevojku pokraj sebe kako razgovara s prijateljicom.
As she pondered, she overheard a girl next to her talking to a friend.
"Nekad je važnije znati se odmoriti nego imati savršen raspored," rekla je djevojka smireno.
"Sometimes it's more important to know how to rest than to have a perfect schedule," said the girl calmly.
Ivana je podignula pogled.
Ivana looked up.
Ove riječi su je dotakle.
These words touched her.
Ivana je duboko udahnula.
Ivana took a deep breath.
Možda nije važan samo savršeni pribor.
Maybe having the perfect supplies wasn't the only thing that mattered.
She thought about all the moments when she'd been overwhelmed with studying, forgetting to laugh and enjoy the simple things.
Na kraju, odabrala je nekoliko jednostavnih bilježnica i osnovni planer.
In the end, she chose a few simple notebooks and a basic planner.
"Mislim da mi neće trebati ništa više," rekla je, smiješeći se Luki i Marku.
"I think I won't need anything more," she said, smiling at Luka and Marko.
Osjećala se lakše.
She felt lighter.
As they left the bookstore, Ivana had made a decision.
In the future, she would strive to find a balance between school and free time.
Stavila je ruku prijateljici na rame.
She put her hand on a friend's shoulder.
"Idemo na kavu.
"Let's go for coffee.
Malo opuštanja neće škoditi.
A little relaxation won't hurt."
"Dok su hodali prema školskom dvorištu, Ivana se osjećala spremno.
As they walked towards the school yard, Ivana felt ready.
Možda neće imati savršene ocjene cijelo vrijeme, ali imat će više trenutaka ispunjenih smijehom i zadovoljstvom.
She might not have perfect grades all the time, but she would have more moments filled with laughter and satisfaction.
She was on the path to a better and happier way of life, and that was the best gift she could give herself.
