בסלון הקטן בירושלים, ישבו כל בני המשפחה.

In the small living room in Yerushalayim, the whole family sat together.

היה ערב של יום כיפור, והאווירה הייתה כבדת ציפייה וניחוחות ארוחות החג החלו למלא את החלל.

It was the evening of Yom Kippur, and the atmosphere was charged with anticipation, as the aromas of the holiday meals began to fill the space.

עַמוֹס ישב בפינה, מביט בכל סביבתו.

Amos sat in the corner, observing everything around him.

ראשו היה טרוד.

His mind was troubled.

מולו ישב נדב, אחיו הצעיר.

Opposite him sat Nadav, his younger brother.

מאז ומעולם היו ביניהם מריבות שלא נדונו.

There had always been unaddressed conflicts between them.

מאז שהיו קטנים זה תמיד ככה.

Since they were young, it had always been this way.

כל חג, כל מפגש, נדמה שהמתח שביניהם רק גובר.

Every holiday, every gathering, the tension between them seemed to only increase.

המשפחה התקבצה על הספות, הילדים רצו מצד לצד בעוד המבוגרים דיברו על ענייני השעה.

The family gathered on the couches, the children running back and forth, while the adults talked about current events.

אבל עַמוֹס לא יכול היה להתרכז.

But Amos couldn't concentrate.

בכל פעם שהביט לעבר נדב, הרגיש את הריחוק.

Every time he looked at Nadav, he felt the distance.

הוא רצה לשנות את זה.

He wanted to change that.

במהלך הערב, כאשר כולם היו עסוקים בדיבורים ודילוגי הספה, עַמוֹס סוף סוף אזר אומץ לגשת לנדב.

During the evening, when everyone was busy talking and jumping between the couches, Amos finally mustered the courage to approach Nadav.

הוא התקרב אליו בעדינות, לוחש, "נדב, אפשר לדבר רגע?

He gently approached him, whispering, "Nadav, can we talk for a moment?"

"נדב הביט בו ברוגז, ספק האם זה הזמן והמקום.

Nadav looked at him with annoyance, uncertain if this was the right time and place.

אבל עַמוֹס היה נחוש.

But Amos was determined.

הם יצאו למרפסת הקטנה, והשקט מילא את החלל ביניהם.

They went out to the small balcony, and silence filled the space between them.

"נדב, אני רוצה לסיים עם כל זה," אמר עַמוֹס, מבטו עוגן בעיניו של אחיו.

"Nadav, I want to end all of this," Amos said, his gaze locked onto his brother's eyes.

"זה יום כיפור.

"It's Yom Kippur.

הגיע הזמן לסלוח.

It's time to forgive."

"נדב השפיל מבטו, מחשבות קדורניות עוטפות את מוחו.

Nadav lowered his eyes, somber thoughts enveloping his mind.

"אבל אתה יודע כמה קשה זה לי," השיב קולה חנוק.

"But you know how hard it is for me," he replied, his voice choked.

עַמוֹס הנהן.

Amos nodded.

"אני יודע.

"I know.

גם לי.

It's hard for me too.

אבל אנחנו משפחה.

But we are family.

כבר מיצינו את המריבות ואת השתיקות.

We've exhausted the arguments and the silences.

צריך לדבר.

We need to talk."

"נדב נשם עמוק.

Nadav took a deep breath.

היו שם מילים רכות שרצו לצאת, אבל גם כעס ישן.

There were gentle words wanting to come out, but also old anger.

השניים המשיכו לדבר, חודשו דברים נשכחים, ונפתחו פצעים ישנים.

The two continued to talk, rehashing forgotten things, reopening old wounds.

המילים יצאו לבסוף, טעונות ואמיתיות.

The words finally came out, charged and true.

לפתע, הרגיש עַמוֹס הקלה.

Suddenly, Amos felt relieved.

גם נדב, כשזיק של חיוך קטן הסתננן אל פיו.

Nadav too, as a flicker of a small smile crept onto his face.

"אני רוצה שננסה," אמר נדב, קולו כעת שקט ורך יותר.

"I want us to try," Nadav said, his voice now quieter and softer.

השניים חזרו לסלון, המתח ביניהם נשבר במעט.

The two returned to the living room, the tension between them somewhat broken.

קרבתם הצרה הייתה הנחמה שהייתה דרושה לשניהם, התחלה חדשה של חילופי מילים כנות ולא רק שקטים.

Their newfound closeness was a comfort both needed, a new beginning of honest exchanges, not just silent ones.

לאחר הארוחה, כאשר המשפחה החלה להיפרד, עַמוֹס ונדב פנו זה לזה, החלטיים לעבוד על הקשר ביניהם.

After the meal, as the family began to part, Amos and Nadav turned to each other, determined to work on their relationship.

זאת הייתה התחלה של שינוי, ניצוץ של שלום, אולי אפילו חידוש בניוּת נובעה.

It was the beginning of a change, a spark of peace, perhaps even the renewal of a budding relationship.
