Bhí ardmhian ag lonradh sa spéir os cionn Aillte Mhothair, áit a raibh an tírdhreach ag fás na ghorm glas.
A bright ambition was shining in the sky above the Aillte Mhothair (Cliffs of Moher), where the landscape was growing green and blue.
Ar an lá gleoite seo de Lá Fhéile Eoin, beirt a bhí ag na haillte: Siobhán agus Pádraig.
On this lovely Lá Fhéile Eoin (Saint John's Day), there were two people at the cliffs: Siobhán and Pádraig.
Bhí na dabhcha ag seinm leo ar feadh na tráthnóna, agus bhí an farraige ag bualadh isteach i gcoinne na gcloch thíos fúthu.
The drums played throughout the afternoon, and the sea was crashing against the rocks below them.
Siobhán ab ainm do bhean óg a bhí i gceannas ar fhoghlaim na dtuairiscí.
Siobhán was the name of a young woman in charge of guiding the tour.
Bhí smacht aici ar an gclár, agus bhí na héin ag éisteacht go géar léi.
She had command over the program, and the birds listened intently to her.
Bhí dúil mhór ag Siobhán leis na héin chreiche, go háirithe leis na seabhca dubha.
Siobhán had a great fondness for birds of prey, especially the black hawks.
Bhí sí cúramach agus aireach, gan ligean d'aon bhaol teacht ar na héin ná ar lucht féachana.
She was careful and attentive, not allowing any danger to come to the birds or the audience.
Pádraig, a cúntóir, bhí sé chomh bríomhar mar gaoth an tsamhraidh.
Pádraig, her assistant, was as lively as the summer wind.
Bhí fonn mór air cruthú go raibh sé in ann an taispeántas a dhéanamh níos iontaí.
He had a strong desire to prove that he could make the exhibition more impressive.
Bhí sé ag iarraidh gluaiseacht nua a thaispeáint a bheadh rioscaí, ach d'inis Siobhán dó fanacht leis an bplean a bhí socraithe acu.
He wanted to showcase a new, risky maneuver, but Siobhán told him to stick with the plan they had agreed on.
Bhí an slua mórthimpeall, a súile ag lonradh le sceitimíní.
The crowd around them, their eyes shining with excitement.
Thosaigh Siobhán amach ar fad lena turas taispeántais.
Siobhán began the showcase with full focus.
Thug sí na héin amach go cúramach, croíthe an phobail ag bualadh le gach gleo.
She brought out the birds carefully, the hearts of the people beating with every sound.
Ach ansin, de phroinnt, chonaic sí Pádraig ag ullmhú dá ghníomhaíocht, ag dúshlán a chuirfeadh air an riosca a ghlacadh.
But then, suddenly, she saw Pádraig preparing for his act, challenging himself to take the risk.
Bhí sí idir dhá chomhairle.
She was torn between two minds.
An dtabharfadh sí cead dó?
Should she give him permission?
Nó an gcuirfeadh sí cosc ar a ghníomh?
Or should she stop his action?
Bhí an t-am ag brath ar na soicindí.
Time was ticking by the seconds.
Agus ansin, tharla sé.
And then it happened.
D'éirigh Pádraig leis an gníomh.
Pádraig succeeded in his act.
Rinne sé an manuvéar uafásach le crógacht, agus scríobadh gaspanna ón slua.
He performed the audacious maneuver with bravery, and gasps were heard from the crowd.
Chroith an talamh lena heagla, ach bhí go leor ag Siobhán.
The ground trembled with fear, but Siobhán was composed.
Thug sí treoracha soiléire go tapa chuig na héin, as cocún easpa drámaí an fhuil fhuar.
She swiftly gave clear instructions to the birds, cocooning them from any lack of drama with a cool head.
Thug turas fearúil Pádraig crith eiseach na súile orthu.
Pádraig’s daring display sent chills through the onlookers' eyes.
Bhí slua an-tógtha.
The crowd was very impressed.
Ba as cuimse an bhéim a raibh a rithe.
It was extraordinary, the emphasis they placed on his run.
"Tá an scil agat, a Phaidraig," arsa Siobhán tar éis don scéal seiceáil.
"You have the skill, Pádraig," said Siobhán after the performance was reviewed.
“Ach tá rabhartaí cúramacha thart agat. Fan fhreagrach.”
“But there are careful tides around you. Stay responsible.”
D'fhás Siobhán, ag impí ar phleananna nuálaíocha chuimhneacháin nua.
Siobhán grew, urging innovative plans for new memories.
Bhí meas Pádraig nua ar misneach thar chara, ach d'aithin sé freisin an tábhacht a d'fhéadfadh a bheith ag rabhadh.
Pádraig had newfound respect for his courage beyond a friend, but he also recognized the importance that caution could have.
Mar sin, le glas geal an tséasúir le faoi scáth bheannaithe Lúnasa, fágadh iad agus le dul ó riachtanas an réitigh: an gráthacht seo a bhí acusan don saol agus don tsaoil.
Thus, under the bright green of the blessed season of Lúnasa, they were left to move from the necessity of the solution: this grace they had for life and nature.
Bhí a rithim féin acu taobh leis na haillte, féachaint amach ar an farraige mhór, áit a mbeidh cuimhní á dhéanamh ag na héin chomh fada agus is cosúil.
They had their own rhythm beside the cliffs, looking out over the great sea, where memories would be made by the birds as long as it seemed.
