The train was knitting its way through the campagne française, its windows revealing the golden landscapes of autumn.
The trees, painted with shades of red and yellow, offered an exceptional spectacle.
Émilie, sitting near a window, attempted to detach herself from the lively voices of her family.
Antoine, her older brother, was arguing yet again with their parents about endless topics.
Antoine's voice resonated like a drum, disturbing the tranquility that Émilie so desperately hoped for.
Sitting across from them, Luc, their cousin, seemed to wish to disappear into his seat to avoid the shouting.
Émilie had always dreamed of traveling alone, far from family quarrels.
She looked at the countryside, imagining a life without tension, unlike this constant chaos.
Elle voulait savourer chaque instant du paysage.
She wanted to savor every moment of the scenery.
Soudain, elle se leva.
Suddenly, she stood up.
« Je dois m'éloigner, » pensa-t-elle.
"I must get away," she thought.
She crossed the train's corridor, searching for a quiet spot, far from the shouting.
Émilie trouva enfin un compartiment vide.
Émilie finally found an empty compartment.
The air was calmer here, and the world seemed finally at peace.
Mais cette paix fut de courte durée.
But this peace was short-lived.
Antoine burst into the compartment, his face reddened by anger.
« Pourquoi tu pars ?
"Why are you leaving?" he asked, his voice softened by the absence of parental eyes.
Émilie le regarda, hésitant à commencer.
Émilie looked at him, hesitating to start.
But something in Antoine's demeanor gave her courage.
"I've had enough of the arguments, Antoine. I just want to see the beauty of this journey," she said softly.
Antoine sat down, casting his gaze on the landscape.
« Je comprends, » avoua-t-il.
"I understand," he admitted.
"Sometimes I get tired too... but you know how our parents are."
Their words became lighter than the sound of the wheels on the rails.
In this closed space, brother and sister discovered a new way of communicating.
They talked about their dreams, their frustrations, and hopes for a more united family.
Finally, Antoine suggested, "What if we try to make this better together?"
Émilie smiled, feeling a new and unexpected warmth in response to this proposal.
« Oui, ensemble, » répondit-elle.
"Yes, together," she replied.
When they returned to their seats, there was a different air between them.
The familiar arguments barely shook the calm they now shared in silence.
She was not alone, and although the family remained noisy, they had found the beginnings of peace in the shared beauty of simple understanding.
