He ovat ystäviä, ja he ovat tulleet katsomaan uutta vuotta.

They are friends, and they have come to watch the New Year.

Maarit katsoo ympärilleen iloisesti.

Maarit looks around happily.

"Katso, kuinka kauniita ilotulitukset ovat!" hän huudahtaa.

"Look how beautiful the fireworks are!" she exclaims.

Aki tuntee itsensä rauhattomaksi.

Aki feels restless.

Uusi vuosi tuo mukanaan paineita.

The New Year brings with it pressures.

Hän haluaa löytää uuden suunnan elämälleen.

He wants to find a new direction for his life.

"Minä mietin, mitä teen tänä vuonna", Aki sanoo hiljaa.

"I'm thinking about what to do this year," Aki says quietly.

Hänen ystävänsä kuuntelevat, mutta he eivät tiedä, mitä sanoa.

His friends listen, but they don't know what to say.

Juhani, joka on usein Akin kanssa samaa mieltä, nyökkää.

Juhani, who often agrees with Aki, nods.

"Me kaikki mietimme sitä joskus", hän sanoo.

"We all think about that sometimes," he says.

"Mutta ehkä tämä on juuri se oikea hetki pohtia, koska uusi vuosi alkaa nyt."

"But maybe this is just the right moment to ponder since the New Year is starting now."

Kello lähestyy keskiyötä.

The clock approaches midnight.

Aki tuntee, että hänen on saatava selvennystä ajatuksilleen.

Aki feels he needs to get clarity in his thoughts.

"Menen hetkeksi yksin", hän päättää.

"I'm going to be alone for a moment," he decides.

Maarit ja Juhani katsovat häntä ymmärtäväisesti.

Maarit and Juhani look at him understandingly.

Aki alkaa hitaasti kiivetä portaita ylös, yksi askel kerrallaan, kohti kirkkoa.

Aki begins to slowly climb the steps, one step at a time, towards the church.

Ylhäällä Akia odottaa hiljaisuus.

At the top, silence awaits Aki.

Hän hengittää syvään ja katsoo taivaalle.

He breathes deeply and looks at the sky.

Ilotulitukset pärskähtävät ja valaisevat Helsingin yötaivaan.

Fireworks burst and illuminate Helsinki's night sky.

Hänestä tuntuu, että jokainen raketti on kuin pieni uusi mahdollisuus.

He feels that each rocket is like a small new opportunity.

Se on hetki valaistumista.

It's a moment of enlightenment.

Keskiyön kajahtaessa Aki tajuaa, ettei hänen tarvitse olla samanlainen kuin muut.

As midnight strikes, Aki realizes that he doesn't have to be like everyone else.

Hän voi löytää oman tiensä.

He can find his own path.

Hän voi valita, mitä haluaa tehdä. Miten hän käyttää ajan tänä vuonna.

He can choose what he wants to do, how he wants to use time this year.

Hän tuntee sydämessään rauhan.

He feels peace in his heart.

Kun ilotulitukset rauhoittuvat, Aki kääntyy ja alkaa palata portaita alas.

When the fireworks settle, Aki turns and begins to descend the steps.

Hänen askelensa ovat kevyemmät, hänen mielensä kirkkaampi.

His steps are lighter, his mind clearer.

Maarit ja Juhani odottavat häntä alhaalla.

Maarit and Juhani wait for him at the bottom.

"Miltä tuntuu?" Maarit kysyy hymyillen.

"How does it feel?" Maarit asks with a smile.

Akia hymyilyttää, ja hän on täynnä uutta uskoa.

Aki smiles back, filled with new confidence.

"Hyvältä", hän vastaa. "Tiedän nyt, mitä haluan tehdä."

"Good," he replies. "I know now what I want to do."

Ja niin lyhyen hetken hiljaisuuden jälkeen ystävät nauravat, ja yhteinen iloinen nauru täyttää talvisen iltayön.

And so, after a brief moment of silence, the friends laugh, and their shared joyous laughter fills the winter night's air.

He astuvat uuteen vuoteen, ja Aki on valmis ottamaan vastaan elämän seikkailut omalla tavallaan.

They step into the New Year, and Aki is ready to embrace life's adventures in his own way.
