Autumn had reached Vilsandi National Park, bringing with it the cool air and migratory birds resting high in the sky.

  • Eero, noor poiss, kelle süda kuulus loodusele, seisis pargi serval, silmad suunatud üles.

Eero, a young boy whose heart belonged to nature, stood at the edge of the park, his eyes directed upwards.

In his pocket was a small notebook full of drawings and notes—his nature journal.

  • Eero oli alati tundnud suurt kirge lindude vastu.

Eero had always had a deep passion for birds.

His favorite subject was the barn swallow, a rare migratory bird that he had heard about from his grandfather.

The school year had begun, but Eero's thoughts still wandered to the forest and coastal meadows.

He knew his parents wanted him to focus more on his studies.

  • Samuti ootas ees oluline kooliprojekt, kuid süda keelas tal linnuvaatlemist maha jätta.

An important school project also loomed ahead, but his heart forbade him from abandoning birdwatching.

  • Ühel päeval, kui Liisa ja Mikko, Eero parimad sõbrad, kutsusid teda õppimisgruppi, raputas Eero pead.

One day, when Liisa and Mikko, Eero's best friends, invited him to a study group, Eero shook his head.

  • "Ma pean linde vaatama," ütles ta vaikse, kuid kindla häälega.

"I must watch the birds," he said in a quiet but firm voice.

  • Liisa pani käe Eero õlale.

Liisa placed a hand on Eero's shoulder.

"Then you will surely find something special," she said encouragingly.

  • Kuid Mikko kehitas õlgu.

    But Mikko shrugged.

  • "Õppimine on samuti tähtis."

    "Studying is important as well."

  • Eero tegi valiku.

    Eero made a choice.

  • Ta otsis pargis varahommikul üles oma lemmikvaatekoha.

He went to his favorite viewing spot in the park early in the morning.

The morning was crisp, and the grass sparkled with dew.

There he stood atop a rock rising high above the ground, binoculars in hand, so that his attention wouldn't waver.

Suddenly, what he had been waiting for happened—a barn swallow appeared in his field of view!

  • Süda hakkas kiiremini lööma.

His heart began to beat faster.

He immediately took out his journal and began sketching quickly.

  • Ent äkitselt hakkas taevas muutuma süngeks.

But suddenly, the sky began to turn dark.

  • Mustad pilved kogunesid ja tuul tõusis.

Black clouds gathered, and the wind picked up.

  • Algamas oli torm.

    A storm was beginning.

Eero had to decide—stay and capture the moment or leave for the safety of shelter.

Driven by passionate interest, he wrote a few more quick notes and, with each stroke, made something special on the paper.

Finally, when the first raindrops touched his face, Eero felt satisfied.

Though a photographer inadvertently, the moment was worth every danger to him.

  • Järgmisel päeval esitas Eero koolis oma projekti - kohta räästa-toonekurg Vilsandil.

The next day, Eero presented his project at school—about the barn swallow in Vilsandi.

The class was thrilled, and the teacher rated his work highly.

Eero had found a balance—he followed his heart but did not forget his responsibilities.

Nature and study no longer seemed opposing, but rather part of a whole.

  • Lõpuks seisis Eero taas oma vaatekohas, pilk suunatud kaugusesse.

Finally, Eero stood again at his viewing spot, his gaze directed into the distance.

He knew that every season had its charm, and every choice its value.

And so, with migratory birds in the sky and autumnal Vilsandi around him, Eero smiled to himself.
